Dr. Elaine Jones, MD

I am a long-time patient of Dr. Elaine Jones. I've read other reviews and simply cannot understand why some are negative. Although I admit she does not exactly have a 'bedside manner', she does listen and has never hesitated to refer me to a specialist for a specific problem. When I visit a doctor, I want a competent physician, not a conversationalist. I have been pleased with Dr. Jones' competency for many years.

Dr. Jones is a very competent and serious healthcare professional. She immediately followed up on mu blood work, listened intently to my concerns and acted without pause in referring me to a specialist. Because of her quick follow through, I was diagnosed and began treatment within a week. I have been a patient for many years and my mother as well. I am now referring my adult son to her as well.

Terrible Dr. and staff. First of all because of a mistake made by Dr. Jones, my dad was given the wrong referral. He is 89 years old and due to a fall has been in a tremendous amount of pain. I've been trying to get the proper emergency referral. My dad can't sleep and the constant pain is taking a toll on his well-being. This Dr. nor her staff seem to care. I hadn't heard whether or not the emergency referral went through, and when checking up on how it was proceeding, the receptionist very rudely yelled at me that the staff WAS DOING THEIR BEST. When someone is suffering to the extent that my dad has been, they're not doing their best. In addition we've had a tremendous amount of difficulty in getting prescriptions sent to his RX provider. It often takes several trips to the office to get the Dr. / staff to forward his regular medications that he's been taking for years. We're treated like a nuisance. My dad stubbornly insists on being a patient of Dr. Jones - even though I've… tried to convince him otherwise, I have to respect his wishes. I obviously would find another Dr in a heartbeat if I could get him to do so. Just for background, about 8 years ago, my mom complained of not feeling well and felt a growth in her abdominal area. Dr. Jones' diagnoses was that she had the flu and was overweight, she did no tests to confirm her diagnosis. Despite feeling very ill, my mom was still working at the time. She had asked Dr. Jones to write a note to her employer so that she could take some time off from work. Dr. Jones refused. It turns out that my mom had advanced cancer - my mom passed away less than 2 months later. I can't make my dad see another Dr., but if you have the choice, please see someone else or if you're in charge of your parents care, please choose another Dr. It's so difficult to sit back and watch your parents or any loved one suffer like this.

I am in the medical profession. I can't BELIEVE how unprofessional this woman is. I don't understand how she is still in practice and not sued yet. I am writing this not to vent but to write what I think others should know about her. I wish I had known before seeing her. Now, I always search my doctors online for reviews to ensure that I never have a repeat experience like I did with her and to avoid the bad doctors. She deserves the worst reviews. She is extremely insensitive. She doesn't listen AT ALL to your concerns, rather she tells you, 'no you are wrong, you don't have this.' I have been diagnosed by other doctors with different conditions and I couldn't get in to see my other primary care doctor in this practice, so I saw her because she was available. Imagine my surprise when she keeps telling me that I don't have different conditions. She BELITTLES everything that IS a facet of your condition that DOES need treating; she writes everything off as normal and/or… that you (the patient) don't actually have those symptoms. Terrible experience. During the pelvic exam, she was very aggressive and acting out about using a speculum - I did NOT want it done and didn't need it for the issue I was asking her to exam (remember, I am in the medical profession so I know when you need a speculum exam and when you don't). Instead, she violated me (that's right finger r--e). No exaggeration whatsoever. That is the truth. The exam did not warrant invasiveness at all, it was ALL external. I had clearly explained this to her before hand and after she threw done her speculum on the table out of frustration for not being able to coerce me into having it done, when she very unexpectedly, quickly, roughly, AND WITHOUT MY CONSENT inserted her fingers into me. Traumatizing experience. For the medical condition she DID acknowledge I had, she acknowledged it was a serious issue (which is usually treated by medication due to the severity of it) but didn't prescribe me medication to treat it. What the heck is she there for?! Non-existent bedside manner. I am NOT exaggerating. If you want to experience the magnitude of this statement, by all means schedule a visit with her. But, please remember that you were forewarned. Rude, abrasive, impatient with you, interrupts you, tells you you are wrong, no follow up, absolutely no concern for you. Very very rough woman. Please read this and do yourself a favor. I guarantee you that ANY family doctor is vastly superior to this one. I just gained access to a system that enables me to read which doctors are well-liked/rated/reviewed by their patients. I saw her name on there; she had one of the lowest of the low ratings on that site. And, for very good reason.

Sorry but she doesn't care.I want feel heard, understood and cared for.

I have difficulty falling asleep which has made it very challenging handling my young children. I've been prescribed Ambien before (from a doctor that told me I was sleep deprived) and always took it responsibly. Dr. Jones wouldn't prescribe me any. She cut me off and said I was too young for that. Thirty nine years old is too young for insomnia I guess, too. My main issue is she talks a lot, but doesn't listen enough. I left feeling very frustrated. I had been a patient for years, but her bedside manner has gotten old. It was time to move on to a doctor that will listen.

I had to switch from my longtime physician because he changed medical groups and my specialists are not in the same group (had to keep my specialists). My first visit to Elaine Jones was shocking. She berated me for almost 15 minutes about a prescription I had been taking for less than 30 days, telling me I had an addiction, I shouldn't be taking it at my age, I'd need methadone to come off of it, it was just as bad as heroin (WHAT?! I was prescribed it for sleep by a doctor only after we had tried years of the natural route, incl. melatonin, a new mattress and relaxation dvd's. I didn't buy it from some guy on the street corner). She wouldn't stop talking long enough to let me explain the situation (20 years of poor sleep that had affected my career recently with no rx EVER until 30 days ago). I felt like some kind of druggie creep and I am still angry that I felt I had to defend myself. I wanted to talk to her about my post cancer blood tests but she brushed me off completely, I… barely got the question out when she said "Nope you don't need that" (my HRT can increase my cholesterol and I also wanted my vitamin D levels checked). What kind of a doctor says that? Add to that, I couldn't get a word in edgewise (it went something like this: wait!, but!, hey!, can I just?!-). I had written a small list of questions that I was never able to ask and I left feeling completely insulted and unheard and actually cried when I got home. it was that bad.
