Dr. Elizabeth Ann Wanek, MD

I saw her quite some years ago. She will have had to completely change for me to have any other opinion of her but she is dangerous. She was practicing 'sleep medicine' at the time but not certified in it. She treated me with neurotransmitter 'therapy' which went terribly awry and she then put me on double doses of ambien and then had to add xanax and to this day I have to take it since the neurotransmitter supplements and the meds burned out my brain cell receptors and now the damage is done to my brain. I cannot get off any of it. She also afterwards yanked my hormones around (doubling progesterone, halving estradiol shooting my cortisol through the roof) to the point that I totally lost sleep for a solid week (not an hour) and had to go on disability (she had to do the paperwork but never admitted any error). Since she wasn't certified in sleep medicine it was very difficult to get disability. She didn't even notice the fact I'd lost half my hair and 20 lbs in a month without… trying. She never weighed me as I came in. She's long gone in my rear view mirror but the brain and endocrine damage goes on.

Elizabeth is brilliant and cares about her patients. She goes out of her way to provide excellent information to help with each different person she is working with. I became much healthier under her guidance. And yes, I did purchase a water filter and so very glad I did as it has, in the long term, saved me money not buying bottled water and also my health and uses of the water have never been better. Dr. Wanek is the only doctor that I have seen that has given me hope that my condition is curable. Dr. Wanek empowers her patients to take responsibility for their own health and the course of treatment she has me on is yielding positive results.

Between pitching $400 vortex shower heads, telling me to self medicate prescription medication that requires constant laboratory testing (she couldn't be bothered to even request a lab slip to even check my levels), and was instructed to perform a 3rd world solution of douching with 100% LIME JUICE to alkenize my body, you will be lucky to not get sicker. She also negated all medical advice & prescriptions given by her Nurse Practitioner Leslie Brown (who is under her and part of her practice). She also instructed me to stop all supplements (including the ones I just purchased from her office the week before). She is far from compassionate and her wackadoodle approach to nutritional management is without research or merit. A PURE NIGHTMARE of a "doctor". Stay away unless you're looking for over priced shower heads!!!

I have been seeing Dr. Wanek for a couple of years for hormone replacement therapy, thyroid and some other issues. She is wonderful to work with. She takes alot of time to ensure you understand what is going on with your heatlh and the reasoning behind the protocol she recommends. As another reviewer stated, she is not hesitant to try something new and change protocol when warranted. My heatlh, which she monitors closely, continues to improve. She also treats my husband for prostate cancer. He has seen tremendous improvement in his PSA levels and we are confident it will return to normal and he will not need to opt for surgery. Like Dr. Wanek told me, changing things at the cellular level takes time. She does not prescribe medication to mask symptoms, she works to resolve the issues at their core and allow the body to heal itself.

Dr. Elizabeth Wanek is clearly one of the best functional physicians on the planet. Highly researched, she is not afraid to abandon outmoded ways of thinking and embrace new understandings, once she is convinced that they are scientifically valid. Having been under her care for many years, he new, cutting edge insights (including Symtometry) have helped me to be more fit and slim than I have been in years. Dr. Wanek also takes the time to help you rap your mind around her new insights by using language that everyone can understand. I highly recommend Dr. Wanek to those who are willing to open their minds to new ways of thinking and eating and heal their bodies.

Like another rater, I cannot understand how anyone could rate her anything other than exceptional. She does not give you a bunch of pills to mask the problem. She helps your body to be strengthened through a variety of methods and as the body strengthens the problem is healed. Without doing this even if a pill could solve the present problem the body would still be weakened and another problem would soon occur. Over the course of about a year, I have continued to improve as verified by the way I feel and testing. I almost feel that if I had known her all my life I would never have been ill...sound foolish? Not at all! She teaches you what is necessary for the body to build, heal, and be envigored

Dr. Wanek has helped me become more mindful about the functions within my entire body. That feeling as though toxins are running throughout my veins no longer exists! I feel calmer, more balanced, and more responsbile for my health. Dr. Wanek has nurtured this empowerment, and she has supported my being my healthcare advocate! THANK YOU, Dr. Wanek!
