Dr. Ellen L Pratt has the following 2 specialties
- Allergy & Immunology
A pediatrician is a doctor who specializes in the regular care of children, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of illness in children. Young patients are often more complicated to treat because they are still growing and developing.
While pediatricians may sub-specialize in specific therapy areas like oncology, surgery, ophthalmology, and anesthesiology, in general, pediatricians provide services like vaccinations, health exams, and treatment of common ailments and injuries. In addition, pediatricians are trained to handle the complex emotional and behavioral issues faced by children, especially during puberty.
Pediatricians normally see their patients from birth until the age of 18, although some may agree to treat patients into their early 20s, if requested.

This was my first time consulting this kind Dr. after visiting few others for the very same reason. The accuracy of her diagnosis, the time spent with me explaining everything, answering my questions and making me feel at ease and that my words had great value do not have a price, she showed respect to my worries and concerns. This Dr amazed me and I highly recommend her. I will definitely come back with her for a follow up visit.
I saw Dr. Pratt 3 years ago when I was having problems with shortness of breath and coughing. I told her that I had pet birds and following a CT scan which showed inflammation and mild scarring in my lungs, she said she believed I had hypersensitivity pneumonitis, a serious condition a.k.a. bird keeper's lung. She told me I needed to get rid of all my birds asap. When my brother, a medical professional who had come with me to the second appt., asked more pointed, specific questions about whether it could be anything LESS than H.P. such as asthma, she was unable to answer him with a clear medically based answer and ultimately said she didn't have time to get into it. When asked what led her to her positive diagnosis of HP, she said "you have birds". (The blood test for HP r/t bird exposure was negative.) When asked how many cases of HP related to birds she had seen and treated she said "none", During this visit, she also was interrupted by staff no less than 3 times, left the room to take 2 phone calls and stopped my appt. to answer 2 questions from nurses regarding other cases. I spent at least 15-20 minutes in the exam room waiting for her to return from these interruptions, then she said she was getting behind and terminated the appt. I went to another doctor shortly thereafter, a pulmonologist, who over the next 3 months saw me twice and diagnosed me with mild asthma and NOT HP. I did eliminate most birds from my home, but still to this day have 4 birds (3 years later); I am on a mild steroid inhaler plus Spiriva and have virtually NO symptoms I previously had. I cannot recommend Dr. Pratt as, in my case, she was incompetent and unwilling to consider all possible causes of my condition. She caused me great anxiety by diagnosing me with H.P. which is potentially deadly based simply on the report that I owned birds.
Dr. Pratt was very distracted during my visit, there were numerous interruptions by staff and she actually left several times and took phone calls during my consultation. Was agitated and rushed and said she didn't have time to answer some detailed questions about my breathing problems. Did not feel she had very good communication abilities to adequately explain tests and the diagnosis.
