I underwent my first preventative screening colonoscopy with Eric Cottrill. Following the procedure, I experienced abdominal pain and chills. The following morning, I called in sick to work because the problems persisted. After trying to call Eric’s office that afternoon, I got the answering machine, so I contacted my PCP, whose office was being staffed by a trauma nurse, who told me to get to an Emergency Room. I went to St. Francis, where it was discovered that my colon had been perforated during the procedure. I had emergency surgery the following morning and 12” of my colon was removed. I was advised to take three months off of work, which I did. My wife and daughter also took time off to care for me. The perforated colon, removal of a significant portion of my colon and the extended time off of work were all unexpected and have caused our family to struggle. prior to this incident, I was completely healthy. Now, I deal with pain and discomfort in my abdomen.

I respect that some people have left negative comments but my experience, and my husband's, has been very positive with Dr Cottrill and we will continue to recommend him to friends and family.

I suppose his drug and alcohol problems contribute to his horrible attitude. Which is sad for him, but frightening for patients.

Logical, thorough and straight forward.

Is very short and rude ! Does not explain procedure before nor afterwards. Does not answer patients questions at all. NO bedside manners. He might be a great doctor doing procedures but mentally has a negative effect on patients.

My husband had to go this doctor for an EGD. He was extremely rude to my husband after the procedure (my husband asked him questions regarding what the doctor saw and the doctor told him to "hush!" several times and then left the room laughing). We were both in shock and the nurse apologized for his behavior. We will never go to him again and will tell everyone we know to nHe's out. He's good. Doctor said liquids 24 hours and then soft foods after. Doctor wasn't very nice to Cody. We'll call the doctor Monday to get biopsy results. ot go to him! My husband is in his third year of medical school and has worked with many doctors and seen many doctors in his life. Dr. Cottrill was the WORST!! Not even the worth the 1 star I had to give him.

This doctor has drinking problems & is on probation with the AMA for alcohol abuse. On a routine colonoscopy he pierced my colon, I had to have a colon reconstruction & will have to live with altered bowel problems. Do not use him & warn friends & family to search for another Doctor.

Very, very rude. Would not answer questions, said "I only fix the wreck I find-I don't try to figure out how it happened." Dismissive, rushed, would not listen. Mean, frankly. The most unprofessional doctor I have ever met.
