Dr. Eric Egan Johnson, MD

Dr. Johnson was the one who found out that the surgery I had for my broken femur was completely done wrong. My leg was a 1/4 “ short and 45 degrees off angle. He had to go back in, remove the rod and screws and re-do the surgery. I would be walking with a limp today if it wasn’t for Dr. Johnson. For those who complain about his bedside manner, I had no problem with him at all. No, he’s not chatty but then again I wasn’t looking for a friend. He’s busy and sees many patients a day. He knows his craft like no other and will answer all your questions directly. If you want the best, contact Dr. Johnson.

Very surprised at all the negative comments. Dr. Johnson is the consummate professional. He’s been dealing with trauma victims for over 40 years. Do you think he might get annoyed if patients come in and ask the same simple questions, which could be found on the internet, over and over and over. I did thorough research before meeting with him. I kept my questions relevant and direct. He responded to my questions, even drew diagrams on the paper table cover. Two different X-ray technicians said “we have to get these X-rays JUST PERFECT or he’ll send you back for a redo— he’s the worst stickler about getting the exact shot he wants.” Arrogance or Expertise? He came to see me right before we went in to surgery and checked in on me at the hospital several times. Post op visits— plenty of time focused on recovery. He does have a sense of humor, it’s just very dry and very subtle. Would not go to any other doctor.

Dr. Johnson may be a great surgeon, but he is condescending and rude. After one minute of conversation, he began shouting and didn't stop until I eventually shouted back. This was in view and earshot of other patients and staff. I came back once for a follow up. He was still condescending, did not show me my x-rays, look at my fracture, or ask any questions other than, "Do you need any prescription renewals?" There are other great orthopedists who are not verbally abusive. I recommend you choose one of them.

Dr. Johnson and his team are simply phenomenal. After a horrific fall down a flight of stairs, I broke my leg in several places and severed the ligament in my ankle. If not for the skill of Dr. Johnson and his team, I would probably be walking with a permanent limp. Instead, after several surgeries, today I am able to run at the beach (and can even wear my high heals again). Dr. Johnson is not a particularly "chatty" person, but who cares! His office team is beyond stellar and takes good care of patients!

Dr. Johnson was my ortho doctor when I was involved in a motorcycle accident in 2005. If not for him, I would probably not have a left leg. Other doctors were ready to amputate just below the knee. But Dr. Johnson was able to save my leg, and I am now walking with barely a limp at all. He is an excellent surgeon and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

thank goodness he is a great surgeon, cause his bedside and office manner are simply not that good. Almost a stereotypical surgeon attitude, fine when I am out of it in the operating room, a bit much to take in the office visits.

While I think Dr. Johnson knows his stuff in the operating room, it is almost impossible to get any knowledge out of him in his office. It seems almost as if you're "bothering" him by asking him pertinent questions. I almost felt like I had to physically block to door to keep him from leaving before I got answers to my questions. I really rate him as a C because I'm sure you can get the same plate insert AND get good bedside manner as well. Noone is that special in his/her profession.
