Dr Genden has been my ENT for few years.He is highly skilled in his expertise caring and personable. great demeanor ..takes time and listen to what you have to say. Very Accomodating.Staff as well.

Dr. Is extremely condescending. Performed a laryngoscopy without informing of hospital cost, $1,800 in addition to his consult fee. Was condescending about other options for thyroid care including RFA. Avoid at all “costs”!!!

Dr. Genden said mom would have a very successful outcome with his surgical procedure for Squamous Cell Carcinoma at Mt. Sinai and we were all excited to find him. But the cancer came back with a vengeance after the 1st surgery and a few months later mom was disfigured in Genden's more radical 2nd surgery. Unfortunately, she died a few months after the 2nd. So we are not happy with his services. He also delayed too long before scheduling the 1st and the 2nd--mom was in pain for a long time. We think that if he was more aggressive in the 1st Surgery, she would not have needed the second and would have survived. Genden said everything was done right.

Dr Genden put me at ease from the first time I met him. Another top notch cancer center in NYC only wanted to hit me with extensive chemo and radiation, as their surgeon stated that I am not a candidate. I had a cancerous tumor at the base of my tongue with lymph node involvement, caused by HPV virus. Because of Dr Genden, the tumor was removed robotically and got clean margins, along with my lymph nodes. I will need radiation to only one side of my neck, at a lower dose, with no chemo. Dr Genden’s staff is wonderful, and as a whole, make you feel like part of the family. Dr. Genden is amazing and your research should stop here! Amazing!

I had a thyroidectomy and Dr. Gender and his team were wonderful. My family and I were extremely happy with Dr. Genden, a consummate professional! Highly recommend him!

Get a second opinion

As I get older (currently almost 70), my medical conditions have multiplied and gotten more serious. Though I started off being severely burnt when I was 20, with a 5 month hospital stay and 17 additional stays for 20 reconstructive surgery procedures, I had never in the past been treated by someone so totally impressive. I met Dr. Genden when I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Throat Cancer. For those that complain about the office wait time, after finding out that the earliest I could schedule to see him was 26 days out, a further phone call resulted in him staying till after 10:00 PM just to days later, to see me. It was and always is, worth the wait. Today I was in his office for a 4:30 PM appointment. As is my norm, I went early and got in early too. Was out by 4:30. Dr. Genden walked me through the treatment options that I could pick from, recommended, what was an experimental procedure at the time and then when I selected that option, put together an amazing team, which included not… only his surgical skills, but also a radiation oncologist and a clinical oncologist, but did not stop there as I was assigned a swallowing practitioner, a dietitian and a hemotologist to deal with any blood chemistry I would have from the chemo portion of the treatment. I have had many doctors in recent years, some with great skills and some with great bedside manor and I can put Dr. Genden at the top of the list of all the doctors I have seen and been treated by. A friend of mine had conventional throat cancer treatment 30 days before me and went to probably the best known cancer treatment center in Manhattan. I also went there first and was so turned off that I search for a better option and found it in Dr. Gended. Today 10 years later I am cancer free and live pretty much a normal life. My friend that was treated at the other hospital30 days prior to me, died three years after treatment of a complication directly cause by the course of treatment he had done. Today that institute that was NOT using the experimental treatment that Dr. Genden was in 2008, is not finally using it for its throat cancer patients. The result of all of this has convinced me of two things, one is for myself, any one in my family or any friend that has a illness that would fall within Dr. Genden's area of expertise, I would only send them to see him and for all other issues, of which I have many, I will not only go to a Mt. Sinai physician. Robert

Absolutely down to earth surgeon whose knowledge, explanations on my personal medical history, and terrific rapport put me at ease. Definitely see him first for thyroid issues which will save one time and agony especially if you are the nervous type in your search for a caring doctor. Staff is top notch too!

I count my blessings that I found Dr. Genden. He is awesome! His approach was to monitor my tumor and after four years, he determined that it was time to remove the tumor. I could not have been more at ease and comfortable with the surgery knowing full well that there was a risk of facial nerve damage but I had no doubt that I would be absolutely whole and fine after the surgery, which I was. Search no longer for a surgeon if you happen to read this review. I might add that he has a wonderful, calming and gentle manner that will put you at ease from the very first visit. He's the best!!!! Let me also add that post surgery- 40 days-you would have to look very closely at the incision site to see the surgical scar. Nancy Pumo

Dr. Genden explains how accomplished he is during a visit. I am sure he is a terrific doctor, however, he failed correct my daughters throat problem. He was basically unreachable after this and now my daughter has a permanent hole in her throat for life.
