Dr. Altneu is wonderful. Listens carefully, patient, takes everything under consideration.

I have been taking my elderly mother to Dr Altnue for the past 10 years. She is very caring, thorough and takes the time to explain necessary information. Highly recommended.

Find another doctor! First, this doc doesn't conduct Prostate Exams on her male patients! 2nd... my husband had classic symptoms of Esophageal Cancer. He's 68 years old. 90+ percent of all males diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer are diagnosed between the ages of 66-70 years old! She not only didn't bother to run tests when we explained about his symptoms, she ignored the one test result she did have indicating something was wrong because he had an elevated white blood cell count! She simply prescribed a more powerful reflux med! Then, 6 months later when his symptoms worsened (he began having severe difficulty swallowing), there was absolutely NO urgency whatsoever on her part to get him proper medical tests/treatments. They actually sent him for the WRONG TEST at first! Upon realizing that this was the WRONG TEST, I then had to insist on getting him to the proper specialty doctor (GI) - instead of wasting more precious time just having him go for "more of the wrong tests"! Her office… argued when I asked for the GI doctors name immediately that my husband should be referred to. They wanted to contact the GI doctor, tell that practice what was going on, and have us wait for THEM to call us! This was going to take at least another week! My husband could not hardly swallow! But nobody cared, and nobody could show us any sense of urgency! I knew he needed an endoscopy, and it was like pulling teeth getting it set up for him! Following the endoscopy and subsequent biopsy, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer. And, when we got this diagnosis of CANCER, Dr. Altneu CALLED HIM on the telephone instead of asking him to come in to the office asap for the results of the biopsy! And to make matters worse, the Oncologist she referred him to couldn't see him for 3 weeks! Once again, seeing no sense of urgency, I took the "bull by the horns" and was fortunate enough to get him in to the Anshutz Cancer Center in Aurora within a week of receiving his diagnosis, where he was promptly seen by a brilliant Oncologist along with a battery of specialists, had numerous tests conducted and his first Chemo Infusion done before Dr. Altneu's recommended oncologist could even find the time to see him! And ... Dr. Altneu has not bothered to call my husband 1 TIME to see how he was doing with his Cancer treatments! You not only get the impression that she "doesn't care" about her patients, it's also clear that she doesn't have her patient's backs either! If this is the type of substandard medical care you want, then by all means, ask her to be your doctor! Otherwise, run the other way - or at least ask for someone else in the practice! And, furthermore, sadly, a good friend of mine who was recently in her care (and had actually been complaining about Dr. Altneu's substandard care as well), DIED unexpectedly - and in my opinion quite unnecessarily, because her condition (TTP) could not be diagnosed within a reasonable period of time! And this condition was totally treatable!

She is very bright, well educated, and communicates well. My health matters to her.

Dr. Altneu is a blessing. She is completely competent and reliable. I've never seen a doctor I trust and respect more.
