Specialties

Dr. Eugene P Paluso has the following 2 specialties

  • Internal Medicine

An internist is a physician who focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of conditions that affect the adult population—both acute and chronic.
These doctors are often who adults see as their primary physicians because they treat a broad range of illnesses that do not require surgical or specialist interventions. They also work to help a patient maintain optimal health in order to prevent the onset of disease.
In addition to treating the common cold and flu, internists also treat chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease.

  • Pediatrics

A pediatrician is a doctor who specializes in the regular care of children, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of illness in children. Young patients are often more complicated to treat because they are still growing and developing.
While pediatricians may sub-specialize in specific therapy areas like oncology, surgery, ophthalmology, and anesthesiology, in general, pediatricians provide services like vaccinations, health exams, and treatment of common ailments and injuries. In addition, pediatricians are trained to handle the complex emotional and behavioral issues faced by children, especially during puberty.
Pediatricians normally see their patients from birth until the age of 18, although some may agree to treat patients into their early 20s, if requested.

Refused to see terminal patient

My father who has stage 4 esophageal cancer was 13 minutes late to his first appointment. He and my mother had hurried across country from Arizona to make sure to get into a Dr in Maine. They were moving to Maine and had sent all of the forms and information necessary. My father needed an oncologist referral asap but the dr refused to see him. The nurse said the policy is if someone is 10 minutes late they have to make another appointment. My father now has to wait another two weeks if he wants to see dr Paluso in the mean time cancer is spreading. All he needed was a referral to a specialist. There was no compassion from the male staff member who was pompous and seemed to have some sort of power trip. My parents did not have the strength to push the fact that they needed to be seen right away. No compassion was shown to my parents. My mother was also going to see Dr Paluso because she was just diagnosed with breast cancer and also needs to be seen asap. My parents will have to go to the emergency room for referals because they do not have time to wait 2 weeks to see dr Paluso and then another week or two for a specialist
