My experience same as the comment from May, 2012. Pain after lumbar epidural for moderate chronic pain MUCH worse after epidural. These epidurals are cash cows for those providing them. These should be a last resort before surgery, not prescribed so carelessly. They are NOT as safe as portrayed to be. Do lots of research on these procedures first. Educate yourself as a patient. Dr. Shapiro made a steroid spinal epidural the worst experience of my life. Acted cocky and arrogant. Refused to give oral sedative for procedure.

Because three medications did not work, he wrote me off.

Had seen Dr Shapiro for 16 months at a Michigan Clinic (no names). He literally changed my life! Giving me freedom! My condition was DDD. He changed a few medication's through the 16 months and did bi-monthly spinal epidurals. Listening to the utter nonsense that would spill out of his mouth in the "procedure" room made you really forget what I was really there for. BUT, when it came time to stick the needle in... WOW! He had the magical touch. My progress was going GREAT! Pain level very RARELY went above a 5 (10 scale). NOW, he has left that particular business to practice closer to his family. What a disaster for me. New Dr (will NOT mention names) has said that I do NOT have what Dr Shapiro diagnosed me with, says that the epidurals are a waste of time and over time, significantly increased my pain level (now avg daily level is a 7). I am now searching the route of surgery. I am not getting Anywhere with this current management program! Dr Shapiro, if you read… this... I am the "Big Bang Theory" guy, and I wish you and your family the BEST! You are a great guy and I miss you!

i cant believe i found a doctor who has totally upgraded my quality of life. i have dealt with cronic pain and headaches most of my adult life. one visit to dr. shapiro and i saw a light at the end of the tunnel. i was thrilled at the time and effort he and his staff has given me at each visit. during a typically painful procedure he talked me through it. no doctor has ever done this. the pain is gone and i am so grateful. im so happy to have found a doctor that truley listens, understands and heals.

I get the feeling from him that I am only $$$$ to him. Not even a person but a name on an laptop. The more you talk to him the more he charges $$$.
