Dr. Cobelli earned his undergraduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School. He completed an internship at Geisinger Medical Center and completed training in orthopaedic surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1983 after a term of service in the U.S. Public Health Service.
Dr. Cobelli has been an integral part of Montefiore’s surgical staff for most of his professional medical career. He first came to Montefiore for residency training in orthopaedic surgery. He pursued additional training in orthopaedic trauma as an AO Traveling Scholar at Harborview Medical Center at the University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Cobelli subsequently conducted research in hip trauma as a recipient of the prestigious Mary and David Hoar Research Fellowship under the auspices of the New York Academy of Medicine. Dr. Cobelli is a respected authority on orthopaedic trauma management.
