Dr. Farhan Jawed, MD

Dr. Javed instructed my mother to make an appointment at his clinic after seeing her in the hospital and then refused to see her when she was out of the hospital citing no reasoning. His receptionist was rude and unhelpful.

Many doctors are hard working men and women, others are scarry smart, this is one.

Dr Jawed is VERY good in my educated opinion. I've been a registered nurse for 17 years, and a patient who has had depression, anxiety, and OCD for longer than that. As a RN, I've never been overly impressed with the psychiatric health care that Kalamazoo has to offer, but I've finally found a Dr that I would recommend highly. Dr Jawed is very concerned with making an accurate diagnosis and putting you on the proper meds/treatment plan as needed, instead of just guessing or treating one symptom at a time (Prior to seeing Dr Jawed I was seeing the Psychiatrist who my family Dr recommended to me and he had me taking 4 different meds by practicing this way!). Dr Jawed currently has my depression managed with just one medication, and may start me on one other for OCD if needed in the future. He truly feels medication is not the only option and is willing to listen to you as a patient. He understands the concept that less is more and likes to keep it as simple as possible. The first… visit I had with him was 45min long, and all follow ups have been at lest 15 min long. My previous Psychiatrist saw me for 5 min MAX at every appointment, the first included, and I'd always waited 10-15 min to see him even though there was no one else in the office. Dr Jawed's office is easy to get to, the staff is professional, courteous, and seem caring and understanding of depression and other psych diagnosis as a true medical issue. (As opposed to some who seem to think it's something the patient can "think" themselves out of, or manage with willpower or the power of choice/positive thinking alone.) I also love that it's very easy to get late afternoon or evening appointments at Dr Jawed's office as he works well into the evening on certain days to accommodate patients needs.

I would highly recommend Dr.Jawed to anyone who ask me to do it.
