Dr. Farzaneh Banki

She is the most professional and personable doctors I have ever met. A sit down meeting, face to face, eye to eye. Everything was explained precisely , findings, plan of care and follow-ups. Surgery was flawless. Her office staff, Ali and Alex answered all calls, provided answers and maintained communications at all times. Great team. Wonderful hospital.

That isn’t an overstatement. After 40 years of feeling miserable from the time I took my first sip of water in the morning until I fell asleep, I truly had reached the point where I didn’t care anymore. 40 years of being told nothing was wrong….dozens of doctors, many “specialists”. None giving me more than 10 minutes of their time to try to explain a lifetime of issues. My first appointment with Dr. Banki lasted over an hour. She took the time to listen – something not a single doctor had truly done to that point. She asked questions, she took notes…she was one of the only doctors I have ever met where I felt like an individual and not “patient X”. None of this was more apparent than when we met after a multitude of tests had been performed. One of the tests was a barium swallow with a videoradiograph. The results came back as “No significant abnormality”. I read this result in the patient portal prior to our follow up appointment and was crushed as usual. “Nothing is… wrong”. During the follow up appointment, I expressed my disappointment before Dr. Banki even had a chance to sit down. Her response was that she doesn’t go off of the report. She wants to see the actual test results herself. We watched the video together. She was shocked that the report reflected no findings. She pointed out everything she saw on the video…play, rewind, play rewind. The video clearly showed a hernia. It clearly showed reflux. My stomach was twisted. My left diaphragm was elevated. Within 15 minutes of the end of our appointment, she had already had the department head of radiology update the findings. The day of surgery, Dr. Banki gave my wife hourly updates. She spoke to her at length after the surgery. She called me (not her office) multiple times over the next few days to see how my recovery was going. Every nurse, technician, or doctor I came in contact with would look at my chart, see Dr. Banki was my surgeon, and immediately being raving about Dr. Banki being an advocate for her patients. Several of them were patients, or had family members, that were patients of Dr. Banki. One told me that Dr. Banki saved her mother’s life with emergency surgery. Another told me how patients fly in from all over the world to see Dr. Banki. If you are the type of person that skips to the end of the story, all you need to know is this. Dr. Banki is not your typical doctor. She will listen. She will care. She will do everything in her power to help you. She will not treat you like a number. She can give hope to the hopeless. I have no words that could truly do her justice. Do yourself a favor and just keep scrolling like I did. Read the reviews and stories from others. You will see the above repeated over and over again. Thank you Dr. Banki for doing what nobody else has been able to do. You have given me the gift of feeling normal, and for that I am forever grateful.

I highly recommend Dr. Farzaneh Banki. From the very first meeting my husband and I knew we were in excellent hands. She took the time to clearly discuss my condition, describe what would happen in surgery and answer all of our questions. She is professional and compassionate. After surgery I was very nauseous due to the anesthesia. Dr. Banki sat by my bedside and worked with the nurse until I was comfortable. She did not leave my side until I was comforta!e. She was also personally in daily contact with my husband and I after surgery. We are grateful to have experienced this level of care and kindness. From the moment I walked into Dr. Banki's office to post care I could not be more impressed by both her and her staff and will be recommending her to friends and family.

I recently had a hiatal hernia repair performed by Dr. Banki. Shd is a very attentive care-giver and checked up on me personally several times a day while I was in hospital. I would recommend her and I do.

Doctor who listens, calls you to see how you are feeling, little wait time in office; I do refer all my friends and family to Dr. Banki.

Dr. Banki is an excellent physician. She is very friendly, professional, and extremely knowledgable. She calmed my fears about the surgery, answered all my questions. She is accessible and often calls herself instead of a member of the staff. Her bedside manners are perfect. You walk away feeling that she really cares and that you are not just a case. The office staff is also very friendly, helpful, and very organized. Office waiting time is minimal usually 10 minutes at most. I would and will recommend her to others needed this type of surgery. I had a serious urgent condition a few years ago and Dr. Banki treated me. Her manner and caring and staff are first rate. However, I won't rate her excellent because of 2 concerns. First is that when I asked direct questions about my condition and things like how much weight was too much to lift per her lifting restrictions, I couldn't get direct answers. Her staff finally provided more direct answers, but she was evasive. Second, I've had complications which are somewhat expected for my condition, but some of it points back to possible quality issues with her work. 1) I had to have mesh put in to repair an hernia at one of the incisions she did. Could have been that I over exerted, but she never gave me a direct answer to that weight limit question either. 2) I'm having ongoing issues and my current doctor is saying things like - "this repair probably should have been done by a different (more invasive) method" and "your 'wrap' (procedure Dr. B. did) is too tight" and… "what you describe is not in her surgical notes, but I see that it was done". Granted - I didn't want the more invasive procedure, but if it was the correct solution then I should have been advised to do it. I don't know if the "wrap" being too tight is a complication that's developed since, or a quality issue with Dr. Banki's work. I'm tending toward the quality issue though because my symptoms have been there in some measure since the surgery. Bottom line - Dr. Banki did do a remarkable job to handle my very complex case and I'm very thankful for that. I was in serious need of a good surgeon who could handle a very difficult case. She put me back together to the point that my life has been pretty normal the past few years, but as I'm trying to resolve the remaining issues I'm finding not everything was a "rosy" as Dr. Banki made it out to be after her surgery. I definitely feel that I had a tough time getting straight answers for things I'm now finding are issues. I would prefer that she not paint such rosy pictures of her work and give more straight answers and honest advice as to challenges I would face in the future.

My experience with Dr. Banki and her staff was the best. I had never been in any hospital as a patient nor had any surgeries; she took the time to explain the condition for which I was diagnosed, the treatment protocol which was surgery. The beside manner, the care and concern for my well-being was impressive; she is an amazing doctor and I would recommend her without hesitation. She cared and it was evident; she even called me HERSELF after the surgery to check on my progress; what doctor do you know does that. Thanks
