We selected her for marital counselling purely because she was the one and only in-network provider within 15 miles. However, she informed me when making our first appointment that she was no longer taking copays from customers and instead required that we pay her upfront the contracted rate with the insurance company. Her reason was because getting paid by insurance companies was simply too taxing and time consuming for her. So, I paid her the contracted rate and she provided me an insurance form that I submitted to insurance immediately. After a few weeks, I called the insurance company to follow up on the payment. The check had been sent to Fenia Weiller, not to me, despite her promising that I would receive reimbursement from the insurance company. She agreed to send me a check as soon as she received payment from the insurance company. Two more weeks passed and I had not received anything from her. I called her to check in and she said that she’s not sure what address the… insurance company has but if it is her NY address as opposed to her CT address, she would not be able to receive the checks there. The bill that she gave me for the NY address. So she is responsible the payment being sent to that address. She then refused to call the insurance company to help me sort out the address confusion and reminded me that I agreed to this when we started working together. The insurance company is unable to send me a check and informed me that as an in-network provider she never should have taken more than my copay for services. Her demeanor is cold and unfeeling. She made both of us uncomfortable from our first meeting. We felt stuck with her because it is so hard to find a provider in-network. At this point she has wasted our time and money and literally stolen from us. Please don’t make the same mistake we did.
