Dr. Frances Sjovall, DO

DO NOT SEE DR FRANCES SJOVALL. I saw her at Medi Center in Carteret. I was informed today that this doctor is not refilling my medication that I have been on for YEARS with other Drs because she sees her patients every 3 months. Does anyone’s insurance actually cover 4 PCP visits a year?!! I have NEVER heard of this as standard practice and am not coming back. My insurance does not cover more than one annual PCP appt a year. This was NOT prefaced to me when setting up an initial appt and there was NO mention of this when I did see her. This doctor is clearly looking to just make money and does not actually care about her patients. If she really did care, she would have called me after my bloodwork test results came in. I never got a single call about my results. Only when I call requesting a medication refill does it come to light that she needs to see me every 3 months. Now, I am forced to either pay 3 visits out of pocket to receive my medication refills, or pay out of pocket to see… a different PCP since I saw her at my one covered annual visit. I feel incredibly mislead and I find her standard of practice incredibly unethical. Thanks Dr Sjovall for forcing me to wean myself off my own medication because I did not know I’d have to come back so frequently to get this medicine refilled and cannot afford to pay out of pocket to see you outside of my covered visit. Never in my life has this been standard practice for other Drs I have seen. Absolutely ridiculous.

Dr. Sjovall is extremely thorough. She is professional and an expert in her field. She is a compassionate, caring and kind doctor who takes her time at every visit. She is persistent and follows through. She is understanding and very knowledgeable. She is an excellent diagnostician and thinks outside the box. She will follow up after every appointment. I highly recommend her.

Dr Sjovall is a single practitioner without the corporate business approach that many offices have evolved to. Her number one priority is her patients. She is so caring, an excellent listener and very thorough in her exam. She is able to think about the patient as a whole and does not approach her patients with a â??just treat-the-symptomâ?? approach. She works to get to the source of the problem causing the symptoms. She is very educated and open minded to alternative medicine and offers the right balance for her patients. Dr Sjovall is a rare find.

I highly recommend Dr. Sjovall. She is caring, very thorough, and probably the first doctor we had who took such an interst in their patients. You can be sure that she follows up and returns calls.

Dr. Sjovall is an caring and thorough physician. She listens and does rush you from your visit. She returns you calls. She is an AMAZING family doctor and we are lucky to have found her for our family.

First doctor I ever had who really took an interest in us. Excellent at diagnosing problems. Very caring. I travel 45 minutes to her office. She is worth it.

Dr. Sjovall is consistently courteous, accurate in her diagnosis and treatment, professional and always kind. She will call you back in a timely fashion and is terrrific with emergencies. She has come into her office just to see me for emergencies.

Dr Sjovall is an AMAZING family physician. Not only is she beyond knowledgeable but she will go above and beyond for her patients as if they were her own family. There maybe a bit of a wait to see her but trust me she is well worth it. My entire family has seen her and my children for years. She will find the correct diagnosis and will never give up on her patients. She is truly a wonderful clinician!!
