Dr. Frances Huichi Yuan, MD

If you have endometriosis, especially an endometrioma cyst, please do not allow Dr. Yuan to perform surgery on you or treat you. During an annual check up, Dr. Yuan found that I had an almost 7cm endometrioma cyst on one of my ovaries. She said no further investigations was needed and scheduled me for surgery because the chance of ovarian torsion. Up until this, I was not aware I had endometriosis and this was going to be my first surgery. I had many questions but my main ones to her was what experience she had removing cysts like this, her years of experience performing complex surgeries such as this, and whether she was capable and comfortable performing excision surgery of the endometrioma and any endometriosis found since ablation (burning) puts you at a higher risk for repeat surgeries and excision is considered the gold standard for this surgery. She gave me dismissive answers such as “I have been doing surgeries since the 90s”, “I’ve performed this surgery often” but she never… gave metrics on her success. This should have been the red flag for me to say no to surgery with her but I was very afraid about ovary torsion and had no clue where else to turn for help. She told me that she would do excision surgery so I went through with the surgery with her. The day of surgery I asked nurses and her to add to my consent forms that I would have excision surgery only, not ablation, they said that I would need to speak with Dr. Yuan about that. When I did she told me that she couldn’t add that to my forms and that the forms said one thing, which was “removal of cyst from left ovary and potential removal of ovary” but what she does in surgery will be different. She did not tell me until my post op that she did not excise and instead did ablation. She blamed it on time restraints and mentioned that my mom seemed upset to have to wait, which is completely untrue since my mom wants the best for me and understood the procedure could take longer. She then pressured me to get on a birth control that I had said caused bad mental health issues for me in the past. I chose a different type that is actually recommend as the type of birth control to start a patient with endometriomas on and after that she did not follow up with me at all. No scans were ordered to make sure it wasn’t growing back and when I reached out to her about the birth control I was on and how it was also causing debilitating side effects and asked if it was absolutely necessary to stay on it, she messaged me back implying that I was not taking my health seriously if I went off of it and that she had wanted me to go on the other pill but I chose this one (again the other pill cause mental health issues for me in the past). I stopped reaching out to her and looked for a primary physician to see instead, the primary physician immediately ordered scans for me when I told her the situation and I got ultrasound scans 8 months after surgery finally, which revealed 2 new endometriomas one on each ovary and one which is growing very quickly. My primary told me that Dr. Yuan was leaving Facey, which was news to me, and luckily I had my new primary physician to order scans and keep up with my birth control prescription or I would have been left without any care. I am now waiting to see an actual endometriosis specialist who is also specialized in excision surgery, found him through recommendations by doctors at Cedar Sinai. Please save yourself, your health and mental health and do not allow Dr. Yuan to “treat you” if you have or think you might have endometriosis. She is not a specialist regardless of what she says.

Dr. Yuan is the best. She talks to you. Explain what has been going on. She gives you time. She follow up and call you. I highly recommend Dr. Yuan. I am happy that she is my doctor.

Most horrible doctor I have ever gone too!!! She was rude,cold hearted, not understanding or caring to anything the I felt or had to say. All she wants to do is give you an easy fix with pills and not look further into your health!!! Will never go back again and would never recommend her to anyone!

I want to share with you my experience with Dr. Yuan during what was an exceptionally difficult time for me. I feel blessed to have found her. Dr. Yuan took so much time with me, educated me, made me aware of all of my options, pointed me in the right direction while still allowing me to make the final decision on what was best for me. She's a brilliant doctor and surgeon, but more importantly, she is an incredible lady. I felt cared for by her and that meant the world to me. Thank you Dr. Yuan!

Dr Yuan's professionalism is outstanding. The way she cares about my overall health and during my pregnancy. She spend enough time answering my questions and understanding my concerns. She cares enough that even shes off work she spend time checking her patients messages and call them at her own time at her own private phone line. Any delayed or long wait for office visits are all worth it. i will highly recommend her for any OBYN careLove Dr Frances Yuan.

If not for her I would still be suffering she is great
