Dr. Francis Waibun Teng, MD

I met with Dr. Teng and was impressed with our meeting, his view of the size of my Hernia, knowledge and honesty of what he thinks will or will not work. I was about to sign up for the procedure.  Next day I called to ask just one question: "whenever he has time this week to just answer this last one question, we'll move forward with the procedure".  An office Manager who was quite rude the day of my visit (I believe her name is Tina, incidentally Dr. Teng's sister, I believe), picked up the phone.  She was extremely rude, said that "I'm being very demanding" by asking ONE question and asking to call WHENEVER HE HAS TIME IN THE NEXT WEEK" and that he will only talk to me about it when I schedule a surgery. Then he can cover it during our pre-op meeting.  Her degree of complete lack of manners, compassion, or just basic tact is unlike anything I've ever experienced in the medical field.  It's shown not just in her choice of words, but her body language, tone of voice.  Then I read… dozens of reviews and many mentioned the same thing about her.  I recognize that the office should run as a business. But not inhumane, mannerless, and rude, as done by Tina.  This made me question if I have issues post operation.  It  made me sick and scared just thinking of dealing with her to ask a simple post op question.  Dr. Teng. your ratings, skillset, AND your bottom line profit (yes in the end you run a for profit business, I respect that) would be much higher and you would be the #1 surgeon in Las Vegas if it weren't for Tina. She has cost you many poor reviews, many lost patients, like me, and dragged your well deserved 5-star performance and reviews down.  You don't deserve it, even from a family member. You deserve better.    I lead and am a co-activist in 7 GERD-Surgery social media groups with over 20,000 members. I would have LOVED to refer dozens of people to you from around the US to benefit from your talent, but facing your "office manager first", I'm afraid they'll hate me for it.

Horrible billing practices. Stay away! I never received a statement or notice or phone call about anything the insurance didn't pay or a balance owed. Ever. Just got a call from a collection agency about a past due balance. A simple phone call or letter in the mail could have resolved this balance, or even the follow up visit I had 6 weeks later. Just horrible.

I have seen Dr. Teng for 2 inguinal hernia repairs with mesh and laparoscopic gallbladder removal surgeries. He is fantastic. His staff are fantastic. I changed my insurance just so I could see him. If you can't tell, I highly recommend him. Two of my friends are nurses and both recommend Dr. Teng as a first choice. The nursing staff at the hospital also speaks highly of him as well as his team. If you want a great surgeon see Dr. Teng.... if you want a nicely printed receipt then go somewhere else and take your chance with a person's surgical skills. Sorry, I can't believe someone would complain about that.

Dr Teng is a no nonsense surgeon. He’s good and he gets right to the point. If you want a Doctor that will hold your hand, he’s not for you. But, if you want a Doctor that knows what he is doing and will do it well, he’s your guy.

Dr. Teng is skilled and efficient. My experience with the office manager is consistent with other reviewers. Her omissions and lack of attention to detail unfairly burdens the patient, plus the attitude. A patient seeking treatment should not have to tolerate an inept staff member who overshadows the good ones when dealing with surgery.

I went to him for a consult two years ago for non-cancerous sigmoid colon surgery. Like others wrote here, he thinks he is God's gift to humankind...so arrogant, rude, self-righteous, talks over you, does not listen, and I could go on and on and on. Yes, his office staff WILL tell you Teng corrects ALL the bad surgeries done by other doctors in Las Vegas! Oh, give me a break! Finally, general surgery means just that - he has no specialty in any one area. He is a jack of all trades and a master of none. Stay as far away from this person as you possibly can.

Best doctor in Las Vegas. If you don't chose him you are missing out on his skills.

I'm in the field and have been working with Dr. Teng for a long time. I've always known that he is very good at what he does but never had any first hand experience. A few months ago, my mother in law became very sick while visiting Las Vegas. We knew what the problem was and took her straight to Dr. Teng. He took care of the problem and she was out of the hospital in a couple of days. She's doing great now and we're all very thankful for his work. I would highly recommend him to anyone without any reservations.

I am in the process of getting approved for WLS and Dr. Teng and his team have been excellent!
