I was treated by Dr. Francisco Velarde while he was a resident at L.A. County USC Hospital in 2003. I was so impressed by his qualities as an intelligent, empathic and perceptive clinician that I felt compelled to google his name in order to see what he has been up to of late. I must say I am befuddled by the comments I have read on this website and fail to recognize the person depicted in them.I find it lamentable that it be so easy for a physicians reputation to be so easily besmirched on a website such as this by people who may have ulterior motives or even resentments. One must remember that psychiatry deals with the treatment of the mentally ill, most of whom retain sufficient intellectual and discursive capacities so as to write comments like those found here. I for one will always regard Dr. Velarde with gratitude and hold him in the highest esteem.
