Dr. Fremonta Lee Meyer, MD

Dr. Meyer was professional and thorough. She didn't rush to make a diagnosis, or to suggest a treatment plan for post cancer survivorship issues without really researching my medical records and a thorough "interview" with me. She was exactly what I was hoping for in a psychiatrist; she was thorough, knowledgable, and compassionate. I would recommend her very highly.

Young, energetic, knowledgable, friendly

She was unprofessionally dressed under her white coat with bare legs and kid type shoes...she is very young and if she dressed professionally her first impression would be better.Second, she RUSHED and spoke too rapidly throughout the entire visit. Her questions asked were RAPID FIRE and within 40 minutes said she "had a pretty good idea what was going on". She did not tell me what she thought was going on, she peppered me with follow up tests which were appropriate, but left me without ANY HELP FOR MY REASON FOR COMING. She also only commented during the questioning on things SHE was interested in, ie, the issue of follow up b/w DF SW and outside providers. I came with symptoms of chemo brain and she gave me NO information or help! She asked for releases for my Psychiatrist and Therapist back home, which I gave gladly. However, THEY received reports and calls that I did not as well as presented problems (like ADHD possibly) that NO WAY has EVER been tested for or questioned. I… WAS the one to mention ADD, not ADHD as a question. I cannot picture her working with us CANCER PATIENTS. She is far to brisk and rushed in her attempt to seem competent and a "Harvard" psychiatrist. I was also NOT told about ANY plan, nor follow up appointment except for a blood test, neuropsych referral and a sleep study. I went to my own Psychiatrist for chemo brain cognitive problems and HE gave me THEIR plan for prescribing Nivigil....NOT at all effective except for heart racing. Final impression-young, trying to overcompensate for inexperience/trying to be the "Harvard" psych and not helpful to this type of patient problem. IF you know a patient is having chemobrain problems, you are aware of the symptoms and ADJUST HOW YOU TALK TO/SPEAK WITH/EXPLAIN the problems and where was the information on what she thought was going on to ME, not my providers???????? Haven't we stopped that "old fashioned" way of dealing with the patient....ie, patient centered at Dana Farber no less!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
