Dr. Galen Wesley Mitchell, MD

I saw him 9 years ago, he was rude and dismissive. Looked at my scans and was annoyed I was even there. there was more discussion with my ex husband him hunting than discussing my scans. My current dr looked at everything from then said it was a MS then, why did I not treat my neglect it. Best neurologist in Pittsburgh my but!!

I'd just had back surgery and was sent to Dr. Mitchell to be tested for MS. He was in and out of my room for a little over an hour - the most bizarre appointment I'd ever had. With a voice filled with sheer boredom he told me I didn't have MS but some other neurological issue that he had to put on paper for 'coding insurance.' Years later I got his written records on my visit and he had said I embellished my symptoms. Please keep in mind I saw him 2 weeks after being in the hospital for a month an a half after a botched back surgery that caused extensive nerve and muscle damage. I could hardly walk, I'd just barely recovered from bilateral pulmonary embolisms and he put on my records that I was embellishing my pain or whatever it was he thought I was faking. Because of him it took me years to finally be diagnosed with the MS I had when I first saw him. Because of him, any doctor or neurologist after him regarded me with skepticism. He puts the medical field to shame and I… wouldn't advise anyone to even take their dog to him.

I couldn't be happier than I am with the care I have received from Dr. Mitchell for the past 8 years.

Dr Mitchell is the best.

Dr. MITCHELL may have all the credentials the world can offer. His staff is horrible, and after the dealings we have had their recently how can such a "great" doctor stand behind it? A paycheck I guess. Everyone has to pay the mortgage, thought being a doctor was supposed to be above that. Want to know he problem with outfits like UPMC and WPAHS? The fact that sickness is the product they sell, not wellness.

Dr Mitchell is a fantastic neurologist. I came to him after having a horrible time getting a wrong diagnosis from another doctor at AGH. I will say the office staff is very unfriendly and he even told me to not trust them to get things done. He gave me the number for his assistant if I had questions because apparently UPMC can't hire people to work the front desk who care. Over all he is a good doctor and will do what it takes to find the best course of treatment for you. If I hadn't moved out of state he'd still be my doctor.

I like Dr. Mitchell. I believe that he truly cares for his patients. However, the UPMC system does not allow him to fully treat his patients. The last time I went there were 2 interns observing and I felt as though he spoke more to them then to me. I am an educated person and I would like to be treated with respect, so please take the time to explain to me the neurological exam as though I was an intern, but use less jargon. The office staff is incredibly rude. You would think working in a neurology office they would have more respect for people suffering from debilitation diseases or traumas such as stroke or brain injury. I am in the process of finding a new neurologist.

I find Dr. Mitchell to be very personable. My very first impression was not only did he answer all my questions, he also made my situation seem a priority. He never gave me false hope. Very much recommend him! (if you have insurance)

I would recomend Dr. Mitchell with no question about it. He Is WONDERFUL he takes time to listen to you an is very caring . If you have a problem he keeps on trying until he finds the problem. Theres no second guessing. I went to 3 other Dr.s an they couldn,t find what was wrong. After alot of testing Dr. Mitchell said I had MS.He,s really helping me. You couldn,t find a better Dr.He,s the BEST!! He,s number 1.
