Dr. Gary Raymond Gecelter, MD

Dr. Gecelter is an amazing, compassionate man who goes the extra step who help his patients. My 93 year old mother was suffering from a tear in her hiatal hernia and unable to eat. Other doctors said there was nothing they can do. Not Dr. Gecelter! Seeing as Mom is a very healthy lady, surgery was performed repairing the tear and within a few weeks time my mother was eating normally! Thank you, thank you for giving us many more years with our Mom! Forever thankful!

What a confident and knowledgeable surgeon. He took the time to address my concerns. Spent almost an entire hour with me . I'm looking forward to having treatment done by him and his staff. I had tears of joy after my consult with him. Took me 10 months to find a surgeon who is willing to understand what the patient is going through. His office manager is also wonderful.

Dr. Gecelter is an excellent surgeon. He and his staff were helpful with information preparing me for my surgery. My recovery and the results of my surgery exceeded my expectations. I am very happy with the experience.

In 2003 I visited Dr Gecelter inquiring about a colon resection for repeated episodes of diverticulitis. I was told that before he would consider that surgery, we would need to address the results of my mammogram.. At that first visit, I was given pre-operative testing . The next morning, I received a partial mastectomy and a diagnosis of breast cancer of the left breast, the right breast was benign. Several weeks later I returned to have the left breast reopened and re-biopsied along with a sentinel lymph node biopsy. Both were negative. I was alone, distraught and unable to make rational decisions about my care. Dr Gecelter went above and beyond the call of duty collaborating with my primary physician, my oncologist, and my radiologist about my treatment. He later that year preformed a colon resection, and incisional hernia surgery. After surgery, he was always at my bedside holding my hand to awaken me and give me the results of the procedure.Without his care, I doubt I would be… here today. Thank you Gary,. Your personal interest saved my life. Should I ever need surgery again I would definitely consider traveling from Florida to New York for your expertise. Dr. Gecelter has an amazing bedside manner. He is professional, knowledgeable, and kind. I am sure I am not his only patient who was nervous upon the visit. He was thorough, comforting, and took the time to answer every question. Above all else he is an amazing surgeon and I would trust him if I needed surgery again or for any member of my family without hesitation. Dr. Gecelter along with his staff, Dorothy, Donna, Monica, and especially Joanne were all absolutely fabulous and made me feel as comfortable as if I was family.

After a period of hemorrhaging blood rectally and a battery of inconclusive tests Dr. Gecelter operated and found that the tests did not reflect a large sarcoma on my duodenum. He removed it and I had a reasonably quick and complete recovery. Equally important, he assured me that a growth in my colon, while prudence dictated that it be watched, was likely benign. Peace of mind.
