Specialties

Dr. Gary Kaplan has the following 2 specialties

  • Neurology

A neurologist is a physician who diagnoses and treats disorders of the nervous system which is comprised of the brain, spinal cord and nerves. These doctors do not perform surgery, but refer patients to neurological surgeons when they determine that surgical intervention is necessary.
Some of the conditions that neurologists diagnose and treat are epilepsy, aneurysms, hydrocephalus, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke, spinal disc herniation, and spinal disease.
In addition to using diagnostic tests like MRI, CT scans, EEG and EMG, neurologists also employ neurological testing to gauge muscle strength and movement, balance, reflexes, sensation, memory, speech, and other cognitive abilities.

  • Psychiatry

A psychiatrist is a doctor with specific training in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness.
He or she can not only provide the counseling necessary to both diagnose and treat a patient, but can also prescribe medication when needed. In some cases, a psychiatrist will only provide the medication and the counseling will be provided by another healthcare specialist, like a certified counselor or psychologist.
Like other doctors, psychiatrists employ diagnostic tools like CT scans and MRI in order to observe the structure and function of a patient's brain.
Once a diagnosis is made, these specialists may use behavior or cognitive therapy in order to address the patient's condition, or a multitude of other types of therapy, in conjunction with or in place of medication.

Three Stars

I know that Dr. Kaplan is deceased, and I extend to his family my deepest and most sincere condolences. But honestly Dr. Kaplan excelled in some areas but failed miserably in others. (Bedside manner, etc.)

Two Stars

Dr Kaplan is ok but I would recommend those needing long-term care to seriously consider finding another physician! Dr. Kaplan is very old, very rude, and has little or no bedside manner! In his mind, you are a "paycheck" and not a "patient!" You are just another number in his book! He'll come in the room, sit down, ask you how you been feeling, any new issues, and then hands you a prescription, then gets up and walks out the door! To me, there arr just too many other doctors out there that are caring, professional doctors to choose from... Dr. Gary J. Kaplan is NOT one of them!

Not this Doctor

Does not care about the patient, time spend with me the patient, was very very short. This doctor requested MRI of my brain, on the next 3 weeks later appointment, he told he did not had time to review the MRI and told me to come back at another appointment in two weeks. I requested to have my MRI so I can see another doctor, the doctor refused to give me my MRI until I told him I will report him to the AMA the doctor immediately released my MRI to me. I visited another doctor with good results . I am disgusted with this doctor

One Star

I do not recommend this doctor, very rude, does not care about the patients well being. Request test which are not necessary, forget to review the test, tells the patient to set up another appointment to get results of the tests. This doctor is always in a hurry to see the next patient. This doctor is more interested in the money , not the patient. I am a former patient and I am disgusted with the treatment. Beware, beware

Very rude Doctor

Dr Kaplan ask the same question four and five times, because he forgets very easy ,leaves the room comes back to the room 50 minutes later after seeing other patients without telling the waiting patient the reason, orders MRI,s and forgets to review them, tells the patient to set up another appmt. to get the results of the MRI's, also he is very rude and insulting. I received better results from his nurse then from Dr Kaplan. This doctor needs to retire, I absolutely will not recommend this doctor.
