Dr. Gary Gene Leonhardt, MD

This is one of the most cruelest and evil of all doctors. He used to work at port in Elizabeth city and you should look at port health human services in e city and look at how many people have said how evil he is. His license should be taken away and not allowed around people. He does not care about you or if he puts you in danger. I highly speculate he is an undercover narcissist, maybe even a ‘sadist’. Many times he took away my meds without warning, because of work I was unable to attend all of group therapy. Group therapy was three times a week but because I was a CNA with a hospice terminal patient I could only go to group once a week. Dr. Leonhardt didn’t even try to work with me just saw that I was not following his egotistical rules and took away meds. These meds I have been taking my entire life and without them I am bed ridden and can’t function much like my patient. I can’t tell you how many times this doctor has hurt me. He has put my life in great danger, I was… having seizures as a result and have a medical malpractice case against him.

I've only seen him once, but I felt stupid after he commented that something I said had nothing to do with why I was there, I think I was trying to explain something about why I am in the shape I'm in. He wasn't outright rude, but he wasn't warm and very friendly either. I understand he is in front of me on that screen to write prescriptions, but I didn't feel I made a good first impression. My worst attacks of PTSD come before, during or after a doctor visit, after having never been diagnosed for over 4 years with peritonitis. I was calm after my visit with him, but still feel anxious about upcoming appointment. I just pray he can and will help me.

I seen Dr Leonhardt for the 1st time and it has already made a significant difference in my ability to function as a human being. I am a disabled veteran and have severe mental problems such as major depression disorder, anxiety disorder with severe panic attacks and a host of other mental problems. The previous psychiatrist tried to alleviate my symptoms and having these problems 24/7 I seen the other doctor regularly for a few years to try and have a better quality of life. I just don't think the other psychiatrist knew how to treat these conditions. I was in terrible shape and suffered every single day. I never left my room was a complete shut in so to speak. My anxiety and panic attacks were 10++ and I can tell you living like that 24 hours a day takes a toll on not only your mental state but overall well being as a person. Now I haven't had leaps and bounds as of yet but I'm not shaking continually and I'm alot more comfortable than I was before I seen him. I will say my hopes… in the future because of his knowledge and time to actually care about the patient's well being and quality of life is very,very high. If u have a need to see a psychiatrist I recommend Dr Leonhardt With 100% certainty that he will give u his full attention and treat u with dignity and respect.

After 5 days of not having a depression medication, I went to Dr. L. and he refused to prescribe a depression medication to myself. One I have been on for 4 years. He is one of the rudest doctors I've ever seen.
