Dr. Gary Mitchel Freedman, MD

Dr Freedman is an amazing radiation oncologist! I am myself a breast surgeon and when I was diagnosed with breast cancer I knew exactly who to turn to. I have worked with many radiation oncologists over the years and Dr Freedman is the best of the best! You simply will not find someone more competent or caring anywhere! I now live near Pittsburg and had to travel over 4 hours to see him and I would do it again in a heartbeat! In fact, if he lived on the other side of the country I would have traveled there, he is simply that good!

Saved my life. Went to bat to get treatments covered. Intelligent and compassionate doctor.

I received radiation treatment for stage I breast cancer. Why do they bother to ask you before being seen by the doctor whether you are being abused at home? If the answer is “yes,” does this doctor take that into consideration for his plan? For it seems truly a plan that he had when I look back. Why do they ask you if you would like someone to be in the examination room with you? I wasn’t prone to falling, so I said “no.” They don’t tell you about chaperones for female patients who are seeing male doctors. Why do they bother when your doctor just goes ahead applies his schedule of longer and longer examinations of the breasts using his hands? Did he take a calculated risk and assume this patient ,who is mired in health and personal problems, wouldn’t be able to tell what’s going on? Did he assume because this patient is Asian and older, that she would not bother to complain and speak up, as per stereotype? The final act was him cupping and bouncing my affected breast while… commenting over and over again how good it looked, how the surgeon did a great job (she did an excellent job, but not for him to “enjoy”), while smiling.

Eight years ago Dr. Gary Freedman was my radiation oncologist. He was very professional as well as friendly. Unfortunately and fortunately I will be seeing him again catcher to discuss radiation therapy for myself again. Without knowing if he was still there I requested him. I trusted him then and I trust him now!

Thorough, looks at all angles, goes to bat with insurance companies to get the care you need, I can see why so many people recommend him! Thank you Dr. Freedman for saving my life!

Dr. Freedman spent a tremendous amount of time explaining everything to me. He treated me as a whole human being and worked with my whole team to kick cancer's butt. He really is a wonderful doctor and a lovely human being.
