Dr. Gary Ray has the following 1 specialty
A pediatrician is a doctor who specializes in the regular care of children, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of illness in children. Young patients are often more complicated to treat because they are still growing and developing.
While pediatricians may sub-specialize in specific therapy areas like oncology, surgery, ophthalmology, and anesthesiology, in general, pediatricians provide services like vaccinations, health exams, and treatment of common ailments and injuries. In addition, pediatricians are trained to handle the complex emotional and behavioral issues faced by children, especially during puberty.
Pediatricians normally see their patients from birth until the age of 18, although some may agree to treat patients into their early 20s, if requested.

I'm 38 and he was my own doctor as a child from the age of 4. I took my first two children to him between mikitary moves...took my 3rd child to him and we began to read about the adverse effects of vaccines so we allowed his shot schedule to be slower than normal. With my 4th child we opted NOT to vaccinate, she's never been sick so she never saw him. My newest baby? I took her In because she has been having reflux issues. I addressed the vaccine concerns. I was told "if you don't vaccinate u can find another practice". He sent my daughter to have a GI test done to prove reflux....4 days later (test results were sent the same day the test was performed) I was finally called in medication for my daughter. His staff is not professional. My first time there with my newborn...she was 4 days old. You have to walk through the sick kid area to even reach the well baby area...I left my husband holding our daughter outside and I went IN to find out why we needed to be seen (he requested to see her that soon). The first window, they looked at me but continued their conversation about one of the employees sons teacher. I went to the check OUT window....that employee opened the window and I explained I was there by request of the doctor and was there a way to get to the well baby area without waking her through a germ infested lobby.. Her response, not spelling errors, I'm writing how it was pronounced. "have you gots yo medicait wart letta"? I replied "excuse me, what is that"? She seemed confused so I asked "are you trying to ask me what type of insurance I have, if so, its BCBS". Then she said "no" there was no other entry to the well baby area and I refused to take my newborn through that area. She advised I bring my baby back at either first thing when they open OR at 12:45 when they come back for lunch...I asked if I made an appointment would walk ins be seen before me or something? She said "yes, its possible". So no appointment will hold you a spot. After all is said an done? I called and set an apt for see the doctor about immunizations. To sit down and have him address my concerns...if he COULD? I would have started a shot schedule. Instead? I or a letter today by certified mail removing my children from his practice. This man is nothing but ego. If you question him? Your on his crap list. Be warned. You will be miserable . Find a younger doctor who keeps up with the times.
My daughter is 18 and about to move to the University of Alabama. Although we don't see Dr. Ray anymore because of her age, we saw him as a regular basis for many years. We needed a form filled out documenting all of her vaccination for before she could move to campus. The office staff was very uncooperative in helping us with this. Of course Dr. Ray had done all of her vaccinations that were required as she was growing up. The UA required the meningitis vaccination which was not available when she was younger. The office told us they would not give it to her because she didn't come to their office anymore. We went to CVS, where she never sees a doctor and got the vaccination. The form also required the signature, date and license number. I'm sure the license number was to ensure that people get the forms filled out by the proper person. The office also refused to fill this in. Even after calling and explaining that we needed this the office staff refused to do it. I told her that licenses had to be displayed in their office and all I needed was to add it to the form so I didn't understand why they wouldn't give it to me. I had already provided the form to them and they did not fill that line out. I called the University of they could not understand why a doctor's office would refuse this. They had never had this problem before. Thankfully they accepted our form without it.
Dr.Ray is a caring and compassionate pediatrician. He has cared for all of my children and I trust him completely with the health of my children! We have no problem getting an immediate appointment and he always answers all my questions and addresses all my concerns. Most importantly, he interacts with the children and they LOVE him!
Dr. Ray has been my children's pediatrician since birth. We could not be happier with his service. In fact, I credit him with possibly saving my son's life when he was the only doctor who was able to diagnose a congenital defect in his bladder. I will continue to rely on Dr. Ray for the care of my children until they are adults. I always tell him he simply cannot retire until my children are grown!
