Dr. Gary Daniel Motykie, MD

I want to share my experience with Dr. Motykie, despite his seemingly polished image on Television. Many people are swayed by his good looks and charm, partly because he was on a television show Doctors 90210 years ago. However his focus has increasingly shifted towards self-promotion rather than on his core responsibilities as a surgeon. This shift has severely compromised his professional duties and is particularly concerning for those relying on his medical expertise. Professional standards and patient care must always remain the top priorities for any medial professional. It is essential that he upholds his oath to do no harm and commits to being a profoundly excellent and caring surgeon. As seen by this episode of Inside Edition with Deborah Norville, Dr. Motykie is primarily self-promoting, discussing his surgery on his sister, Linda Clardy. What was not mentioned as a follow-up is that Linda tragically passed away just three weeks after her surgery, which was performed in… 12/2022. You can search for her obituary online by searching for her name, Linda Clardy. My experience, along with those of many many other women and several men, has been deeply distressing and heartbreaking. I urge you to read his reviews on Yelp and Google, where many dissatisfied patients have shared their experiences of botched surgeries and disfigurements. Please consider this information carefully when choosing him as your surgeon. My experience has been profoundly troubling, and I feel it is crucial to share this to help others make informed decisions. As a resident of Beverly Hills, I've had the opportunity to speak with many professionals in the medical field, including nurses and surgeons. Many have mentioned that Dr. Motykie photoshops his "before and after" gallery photos, which are displayed on his website, and these are not authentic photos of his actual work. In fact, several nurses I've spoken to noted that their before photos used in his consultations are often altered to make the patient look worse than they actually do in person, a tactic used to convince them they need surgery. In addition to these concerning facts, Dr. Motykie charges a $1,000 consultation fee, which is significantly higher than that of other, more qualified and prominent surgeons. He also advertises his practice as being located in Beverly Hills, although it is actually in West Hollywood. His social media often features him in front of the camera, in what appears to be an operating room, emphasizing self-promotion rather than showcasing genuine patient results. If that weren't alarming enough, Dr. Motykie lacks legitimate hospital privileges, holding only privileges at the county hospital. The quality of patient care is also problematic. After having surgery, patients cannot access him directly for post-surgical questions. Unlike other surgeons, Dr. Motykie does not provide a personal contact number for urgent issues. Instead, patients are left to communicate with office staff who are largely clerical and not very knowledgeable, or they are directed to his YouTube channel for answers to serious medical questions, which is outrageous and inappropriate for addressing postoperative concerns. I deeply regret proceeding with his services despite initial misgivings. The experience was not worth the risk to my health and well-being. I want others to be aware that they do not have to settle for this level of care. My dealings with Dr. Motykie and his office were fraught with issues from the start. Please think twice before choosing Dr. Motykie. I hope my story helps others avoid similar regret and long-term problems.

After my consultation my insurance benefits were checked as they were going to bill for the non-cosmetic portions of my surgery. After they had their money- paid in full- they refused to submit anything. Turns out I learned from my insurance they had zero intention of ever submitting anything as they never did the paperwork required. Inadvertently they told me one thing and once they had the money it was a different story; even gave me false provider numbers when I attempted to submit the claim myself. Very unethical practice.

This is a consultation review. Every staff person I have dealt with has been extremely helpful, friendly, and reassuring. I never felt rushed and all my questions were answered. Dr. Motykie has gotten back to me promptly and offered real solutions for my problem. He has restored my hope. Grateful to this practice. Thank you.

They do experiment on women without our knowledge. They injected kybella on my face. Never told me it’s not FDA approved or recommended for the face. I did not come to get kybella I did not need kybella. They disfigured my face. Don’t go there they are butchers all about selling you things you don’t need and making money. They should be in jail!!

Worst Doctor ever. I don't care how many magazines and TV shows or celebs you do. If you do not treat all patients the same then you are a fraud. At the pre op consultation i waited 1:45 hours to see him, then when i finally did he came in for less than 5-6 minutes , looked at my nose, didn't ask any questions, didn't bother to see any of the photos i brought in or any of the ones they game me to pick from, didn't do any consultation as if he was god and had this already figured out. Then he passed me straight to the person that handles the financing and that was it. The results? Well to say horrible is an understatment. It looks nowhere close to the morphed images he created and nowhere close to what i wanted. Even though he verbally said my nose would come out just like that he now hides behind the fine print of " no results are guaranteed " and doesn't want to take accountability to correct this. He never ever responds himself, always hides behind secretaries or he is on vacation.… Very unprofessional , very arrogant and his work is no different than someone that has 1 day of experience and charges you $10 for a nose job. I am already working with someone to file a lawsuit. DO NOT go to this guys if you care about your looks and money. He will ruin you and then fly to the Bahamas.

Not a good doctor, not a good job, and not worthy of being a plastic surgeon. He screwed up my face and didn't provide the work I had asked for. I spent thousands on this surgery and he did nothing to make up for what is a continued mess. He never called or wrote an email to ask how I was. I had to call him (he never took my call) so that I could get some form of treatment to fix my neck and jawline. He gave me 3 steroid shots that did absolutely nothing. I wound up chatting with other surgeons online, and they gave me some things I could try, and it helped quite a bit – but it still looks weird and I notice people always staring at my neck. If this doesn't scare you, then you get what you deserve. I recommend you find someone else.

Dr. Motykie performed a revision rhinoplasty and a breast augmentation on me, both resulting in near perfection. I didn't think these types of results were possible, considering my initial rhinoplasty was carried out so poorly and because I was so flat chested. I assumed my nose was ruined for life, and that if I were to get a breast augmentation, I'd look fake and plastic, like some terrible boob jobs do. Boy was I wrong. My nose is absolutely beautiful and natural, and my breasts are often times confused for being the real thing. He is truly the best plastic surgeon in California and I don't have enough positive things to say about him. I've sent countless people his way and am so grateful to have learned about him several years ago. He's got a patient in me for life!

I am only eight days post op from my rhinoplasty with Dr Motykie and I could not be happier! He did an amazing job! I felt that I was in good hands from start to finish. Plastic surgery is a big decision for anyone because it's elective and there are no guarantees. However, I cannot imagine trusting anyone else to do it. His staff is very helpful and reassuring as well. Dr. Motykie is an outstanding professional with the experience you want! His bedside manner is outstanding and his staff go above and beyond to make your experience with them as pleasant as possible. I have nothing but great things to say about him and his team. The work he did on me is unbelievable! His natural approach gave me the subtle, yet effective, change I wanted in my nose. He was very upfront and honest with me on what expectations he had for my rhinoplasty. I am completely satisfied with his work and love my final outcome I received.
