Dr. Gene Hori, MD

My husband has seen Dr. Hori for several years and has been treated with great respect. He has explained his condition satisfactorily and done his best to help him. His staff, first Sylvia, now Jasmine have worked with us for convenient appointments.

I've switched from a large Urology practice in the San Luis Obispo area due to my feeling of being in a "cattle Call" type of situation. I have been diagnosed with bladder cancer and feel I should be receiving what I think is real personal treatment. In the past I conveyed my feelings to my then physician however he ignored my comments stating "I don't believe in that" and "Just go home and have a couples beers, you don't need a cathater after surgery to remove tumors". This was the final straw and is when I began my search for a more caring Doctor. My Primary physician recommended Doctor Gene Hori in San Luis Obispo. From the first visit I could see a huge difference in treating methods. Sure the mechanics were the same but the manner In which Dr. Hori conducted his exams and treatment were extremely caring and personal. He listened to my concerns and not only met them, he and his staff have treated me with respect and real concern. His receptionist Jasmine Corona has always… explained the billing so I completely understand it and worked with me to set appointments that fit my schedule. She is also crossed trained to assist in my treatment. Unfortunately another staff member that assisted with my treatment has moved on recently to return to a "School Nurse" position but as with Jasmine and Doctor Hori she too provided me with great care and treatment. I believe she will be missed. Being poked and probed is something new to most men especially when it concerns the lower parts of ones body. Doctor Hori listens, and explains every detail of his treatment. This has helped me to receive the treatment I need with as little anxiety and pain as possible. He has gone way out of his way to see that my comfort has been one of his goals. He called me personally after treatment and made daily hospital visits to me when I was in French Hospital for emergency treatment. As of today my cancer has not returned and if it does come back in the future I know I have a Doctor that will do everything in his power to beat it. Doctor Hori has proven that being the largest treatment center is not always the best. To the contrary; "Size really does not matter"! Thanks Michael Mendoza Morro Bay, CA

Dr. Hori is not a people person, I do not know what he is. He memory is lapsing. Dr. Hori and his office staff members are more concerned for their patients to solve their problems. He can not remember the reason why a patient has a follow up appointment.

Office very disorganized.Rude staff.

Dr. Hori was to remove a kidney stone. Instead he couldn't find it and nicked my bladder. I awoke the next morning bleeding profusely. I called Hori. He blew me off and told me it was normal. The following day I was back at French's emergency room. They inserted a catheter and told me to contact Hori. I did and he cauterized my bladder and cleaned out all the blood clots. I was then hospitalized for 2-1/2 days. His office has been very uncooperative and refuses to share his surgery notes.

Dr. Hori is a caring , knowledgable Urologist who has done an excellent job dealing with my health issues. He is not in medicine for the money, he truly cares about his patients. Compared to other Dr.'s of Urology in our community he stands out.

Office staff is rude, does not return phone calls and seemingly does not care if you are given patient care. Dr. Hori does not return calls - ever - and the medications listed on the release sheet from the hospital were never ordered or delivered. Requests for renewal of medication were ignored.

DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR!!! PLEASE
