Dr. George Catinis was born in Damascus, Syria, and received his medical degree from Damascus University School of Medicine in 1989. He performed his Gastroenterology Fellowship at LSU from 1995 to 1997. He then completed training in transplant hepatology and biliary endoscopy at LSU from 1997 to 1998. Dr. Catinis held the position of Medical Director of the Liver Transplantation Program at LSU from 1998 to 2000, where he taught and supervised physicians in training. He is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and held memberships in other medical organizations, including the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians and American Gastroenterology Association. Dr. Catinis is currently Medical Director of the New Orleans Research Institute and has been involved in clinical research for over fifteen years. Dr. Catinis has authored and coauthored numerous articles in the field of gastroenterology and has received multiple awards for his work from various …medical societies. He was recognized as a professional with outstanding abilities and featured in the Best Doctors issue of New Orleans Magazine. Dr. Catinis is an avid athlete, marathon runner, and triathlete IronMan finisher. He is fluent in Greek, Arabic, and French. From my first visit before my colonoscopy procedure the entire staff made me feel so comfortable and made me visit really secure. Dr. Catinis spoke with me and guided me through my first time experiencing this gave me all the reassurance that made me less worried and more relaxed. The day of the procedure we spoke briefly and just like that or was done. He's really great.

Dr Catinis and his assistant Sharon are amazing. Dr Catinis takes his time to listen, looks at the past information and doesn't stop at hurdles. He shows he truly cares and it's about the patient and their health. Dr Catinis' assistant Sharon is very helpful and follows up faster than any dr's office I've ever dealt with. Beyond happy I had Dr Catinis enter my life!!!

This is a top of the line, doctor. He treats you like a fellow family member. This shows in the way that he listens to you and the time that he spends explaining the treatment plan. His surgery procedure is high quality and his caring attitude preparing you for it is previously unexperienced and I am 85 years of age. If you are looking for a doctor who is on the top of the medical profession and compassionate as well, you found him. You have been blessed in this discovery. Heal well!

Dr Catinis is exceptional, very knowledgeable and informative, personable and professional. He spends time with you and makes sure you understand and really listens! He is awesome! I have found my GI Dr that I will stay with.
