Dr. George Pearis Damewood, MD

Dr. Damewood is not your "old homespun country doctor with a folksy bedside manner". His mission is to make you well and that is his sole focus. He was my primary in Highland County, Va for about two years and it greatly disappointed me to see him move on to greener pastures. He was the most knowledgeable, focused, and efficient doctor I ever had and I, along with many others, wish he was still practicing in Highland. He shared his often complex diagnosis with each patient and carefully included them in the prognosis and treatment options and keeping them fully informed throughout the treatment process. Some older patients may have wished for more pointless "chit-chat" commiseration during their visit, but that is not his style. He is brilliant and dedicated and if you are fortunate enough to have him for a GP you are in very good hands. -John J. Simmons; Blue Grass, VA

Geordg Damewood is the worse so called Dr. I have ever been to see. He should not be any where in the medical field, He has no concern or care about his patients, he is rude and takes up your time talkin about himself. Iam 70 yeras old and have seen many Dr.s in my lifetime but he taked the cake. The worse of the worse.

"Dr" Damewood was extremely nasty to me. He is rude and says things under his breath that he thinks people can't hear. He has a very bad attitude with his patients and staff and seems to think he is better than other people.

For well over a year, I had been frustrated by the inability of many doctors to find the cause of my ear pain. Because my condition could not be seen at a routine visit, I was repeatedly told nothing was wrong. Dr. Damewood patiently listened to me, and researched possible causes for my symptoms. He studied my medical history and asked questions. Dr. Damewood promptly answered every email and phone call of mine. He agreed to order a MRI when my symptoms prevented me from my daily activities. An acoustic neuroma was discovered. The wait for my appointments to see Dr. Damewood, may have taken nearly an hour at times. I did not mind. I figured he was listening to his other patients as thoroughly as he listened to me.

All I can say is do not see this PERSON. He is uncaring and should have his license taken. HORRIBLE...

Dr. Damewood is not trustworthy. For Insurance, he does not code things according to what's requested nor does he order the appropriate tests/labwork for the diagnosis causing unnecessary large bills to his patients. When calling to remedy this, the Dr. and office did nothing to resolve. Also, beware of extremely long wait times at this practice. Waited over 2 hours for a routine, scheduled appointment.

Horrible bedside manner, rude, over an hour late, doesn't listen to patients

I had a first time appointment with Dr. Damewood today. He was over 30 minutes late to see me, and once he was in the room he barely allowed me to finish a sentence. He criticized my eating habits, regardless of them being approved by a UVA Nutritionist. Additionally, he barely made eye contact with me throughout the entire appointment. I left the appointment feeling worse about my situation than before I was seen by Dr. Damewood. I will be looking for another family doctor that pays attention and respects what I have to say.

Dr Damewood can appear callous on the surface, but this really is not the man. He cares about his patients. He is up to date on medicine and medical practice.

Dr. Dame wood is a very unprofessional doctor!!! Very inconsiderate! Please unless in desperate need do not schedule your appt. w/ him!
