Dr. George M Northrup, MD

Dr. Northrup has a harmful practice giving highly addictive prescriptions to individuals in long-term recovery, which contradicts medical guidelines and not only leads to relapse, but causes significant cognitive decline. Stay Away!

Dr. Northrup has been the only doctor I have kept for longer than 5 years, going on over 8 years now. When I first saw him, I had a panic attack in his office and didn't even know what a panic attack really was. He was very polite and calmly told me that we would find out what the issue was. Well he did just that, found out my issues were due to agoraphobia and very high anxiety, after a short amount of time I was able to go further and further away from my house and had less and less panic attacks. I owe a lot of my success in school, and then work, to Dr. Northrup. Even when I would backslide and start having panic attacks again, he was always there and always helpful. I honestly wish I could stay with him for the rest of my life as he has been so consistently helpful and there for me. While searching for other doctors (for my wife) online I saw so many bad reviews that I wanted to come back and leave my review for Dr. Northrup so anyone who is struggling with anxiety and/or… depression can hopefully see this and be encouraged. Life would be much easier if all psychiatrists were like him. I could go on, but it is as simple as "5 stars".

The entire office staff is very professional and friendly. Dr. Northrup offered several treatment options for my major depression. I opted for TMS, which has changed my life for the better. The TMS staff was very supportive throughout the course of my treatments and have even followed up after my treatments have ended. I would highly recommend Dr. Northrup.

Great doctor- Very helpful and efficient-

Before scheduling with Dr. Northrup I read his reviews. In all fairness I had to consider the type of specialty. In behavioral health it is understandable to have to wait at times. Should the need arise I am confident Dr. Northrup would take a little extra time with me. You must have trust in your psychiatrist. Dr. Northrop's bedside manner is straight forward, to the point, no sugar coating and thats exactly what I needed.

Did not find this guy's bedside manner appropriate for his profession. He seemed completely disinterested and bored and keeping his attention for more than a few minutes was a struggle. And you really only get a few minutes before you're booted out and the next patient is herded in. Reading the other glowing reviews makes me wonder if he's got drastically different personalities because I wouldn't go back.

I have been seeing Dr. Northrup for a year now. I have never felt as well taken care of. Dr. Northrup allows me to participate in my treatment and does not try to push unnecessary medications on me. I have full confidence in Dr. Northrup and the treatment and care he provides me. It is rare to find a Psychiatrist that is warm and approachable. His office manager is amazing as well! Finally I have found a doctor that ever time I leave his office, I leave with full confidence that my mental health is in great hands.

Ive been seeing Dr. Northrop for many years and he has helped me a great deal through a lot of situations. I highly recommend Dr. Northrop if you are struggling with PTSD or other mental/medical problems. Very knowledgable and I would recommend him to everyone.

He is the only doctor who "got " my meds right after many years of seeing doctor...after doctors...He doesn't come off as a warm and carrying doctor at first, but he really does care and will work with you until you feel better .... and able to sustain that feeling of good mental health. I am thankful for his knowledge of the brain and how it functions. He uses his knowledge to help eased the cycle of depression by prescribing the right cocktail (s) - He is not a "one fit" all doctor. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for help not a counselor...remember, he can appear to be cold but that is not an issue when you work with him and he makes you feel better than you have felt in your entire life . He designers a treatment plan specifically for you... I am grateful for having him as my doctor. Give him a try and I am certain - once you experience his effectivness and the result you get from seeing him -- YOU will forget about his initial "cool breeze" he gives off on… your first visit - I am blessed to have him as my doctor - He is worth it. You will not regret his care..BUT You Will Be Glad You Gave Him A Chance!

Upon my first I noticed that the staff was not very personable, the waiting room looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in a while , and there was no formal introduction. However, I have been in the psychiatric setting for almost 9 years and to this point, no doctor has given me assignments. I was very impressed that Dr. Northrup has given and continues to give me weekly assignments that have enabled me to know myself better and to be accountable for doing them.
