Dr. Gerald A. Grant, MD

He is God to us. He saved our daughters life. He is most compassionate and amazing human being.

Dr Grant performed neurosurgery on our son some years ago, at Duke. He was amazing! He was quick to communicate with us whenever we had concerns, and saved our child's life. We can't say enough good things about this doctor!

I recently had scheduled an appt. to see the Doctor, after an MRI was done as directed by our Neurologist. I was very much looking forward for this appt., hoping the Dr. could nail down the problem. On the way to the appt.I called the office to let them know I am coming, just in case, I reach a few minutes late due to peak-time office slow down. I ended reaching on-time. After we were brought into the office, the Nurse practitioner came in, sat down on the chair and said 'I am not sure, if you are informed, but the Dr. is stuck at a ski resort due to weather conditions, but he will Face-time you. I was in a shock, but went ahead with the appt. hoping to get help. The Dr. did Face-time, and gave his inputs based on the MRI reading done by the Nurse practitioner. But till date, I do not know, if the Dr. read the MRI at all. I understand people can be stuck at a place, due to bad weather conditions. But it could have been handled by the Dr.'s office professionally and I should have been… told that Dr. was not in town, and given a choice if I still want to come in or not. I did not get a call ahead about his unavailability, nor was I informed about it, when I called to say I am on the way for the appt. It was NOT a good experience.

I would never have opted for multiple brain surgeries for my son if Dr Grant were not the surgeon. His assurances that they would do their best for the child had a big part in it. My son is so much better thanks to Dr. Grant and his team. I am really lucky I met this gem of a doctor. I told him that when they wheel our children into the operating theater, they become the surgeons' children. Thank you for your compassion, manner and great skills and a surgeon. Your little patients mean a world to so many people.

I am so glad we found this incredible doctor to perform our son’s spinal surgery. We are beyond grateful for his expertise, kindness, and willingness to go above and beyond. You will not find a more approachable doctor for your child! He has given our son his life back! He is our hero!

I'm so incredibly grateful for Dr Grant taking his time to get my son's brain tumor out as careful as possible but also for taking a risk and going beyond what some surgeons may feel comfortable with to insure that my son's cancer will never return. He will never know how thankful we are and how blessed we feel to have had him as our son's surgeon. Anyone who gets him as a surgeon is in very good hands!

I may not be able to find the proper words to write about Dr Grant. He is an amazing soul! He went beyond and above everything to help us get my son’s test done and diagnose on the same day. We only had one appt with him but he made himself available for a second appt same day and made calls for us to make sure we get the CT scan done. The news he gave us was unbelievably good. He is an excellent dr, amazingly friendly and interacted with my son as a friend not a dr. He is a life saviour for us. More people like him make the world a better place to live. Our regards, respects and thanks again to Dr Grant!

Dr. Grant is amazingly talented and also makes himself very available for patients before and after the surgery. My teenage child had some symptoms and tests detected a large tumor on a nerve next to the spine. My anxiety had no bounds because as any parent knows, the child is forever my baby. Dr. Grant, whom I never knew before and who was out of town that week, called me and arrange to meet my child and me in the weekend and the surgery was set for Monday following that weekend. He also gave me his email address to which he responded and still does very promptly. The surgery was done meticulously and was super successful. My child fully recovered in record time and was back to the child's super athletic activities shortly afterwards. Thank you so much Dr. Grant!

Dr Grant is an amazing Dr. He explains everything to you in terms that you understand, sometimes has the dr slip up lol I had 5 surgeries with Dr Grant and I wasn't nervous one bit because I knew I was in excellent hands. I would still be seeing Dr Grant however he left Duke in NC and move to Stanford in CA. I have Chiari Malformation and also Hydrocelphus and I understand exactly what was going on when I walked out of his office. I would highly recommend Dr Gerald Grant if your looking for a Neurosurgeon!

I was diagnosed with adult onset hydrocephalus in 2009 and was seeking a second opinion. I went to Duke's website to a general mailbox asking if any of their doctors would give me a second opinion. In less than 24 hours, I had a response from Dr. Grant's office and a timely appointment was scheduled. He did my surgery and I continue to be his patient. What absolutely blows me away is that there is no time that I email him with any question or problem - yes, I said email - that I don't have a response from him in less than an hour. He is truly an answer to many prayers and the finest doctor I know.
