Dr. Ghada A Albeheary has the following 1 specialty
A psychiatrist is a doctor with specific training in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness.
He or she can not only provide the counseling necessary to both diagnose and treat a patient, but can also prescribe medication when needed. In some cases, a psychiatrist will only provide the medication and the counseling will be provided by another healthcare specialist, like a certified counselor or psychologist.
Like other doctors, psychiatrists employ diagnostic tools like CT scans and MRI in order to observe the structure and function of a patient's brain.
Once a diagnosis is made, these specialists may use behavior or cognitive therapy in order to address the patient's condition, or a multitude of other types of therapy, in conjunction with or in place of medication.

I have never seen anyone for mental wellness before Dr.Albeheary and am so grateful I landed in her care; she is a gem. She listens and advises like a therapist/psychologist but has the expertise and medical training of an MD with ability to write prescriptions as appropriate--the perfect combination. I had to change insurance recently since my COBRA coverage ended so I chose my new policy solely based on whether or not it was one that Dr.Albeheary accepts. I highly recommend her if you are looking for a non-judgmental, disarming, graceful physician who takes pride in her work and cares about her patients.
Iâve been seeing Dr. Albeheary for about five years now. I feel so lucky and grateful to have her as my doctor. Iâm not originally from Chicago, so I saw other psychiatrists before I moved to here, but none of them compare to Dr. Albeheary. She's been with me for many ups and downs over the years. She celebrates with me when I'm doing well and does everything she can to help me when I'm doing well. I started seeing her for anxiety/depression, but she has been there for me through a range of issues including my lack of a romantic life, troubles with my career, issues with my family and friends, dependency on alcohol, problems with my weight, and just life in general. She not only listens but gives real world solutions. Iâve never felt in better hands than I do with her. She is very knowledgeable on different medicines to help me cope with my depression/anxiety. And sheâs always willing to work with me to find the right medicine that works for me. If we try out a new medicine and she has samples, sheâs always willing to give me the free samples to help me out financially since she knows thatâs an issue of mine. Sheâs there for me to listen and also to give medicine, but sheâs also very honest about the fact that medicine can't cure it all and when I wasnât doing well she encouraged me to get additional weekly therapy from another doctor in addition to cope. She was able to give me referrals not only for this but also other doctors that Iâve needed for other medical issues in the past. Itâs nice to have someone you trust to give you a recommendation because itâs so hard to just pick a random doctor on your own. It may sound weird to look forward to a doctorâs appointment, but I always look forward to my appointments with her. Itâs nice to have someone to talk to. She always gives honest and unbiased feedback. Sheâs very calming and compassionate. She knows what she's doing and I don't feel like I'm an experiment for her (like I have when I went to other psychiatrists in the past). She makes me feel normal, and not like I'm some crazy person for having the issues I have. She never makes me feel rushed. In fact she always makes sure there isn't anything else I want to discuss before I leave my appointment. If I have something intense going on in my life or if I change medicines at my appointment with her, then she always asks that I email and check in with her in between my monthly appointments. She truly is concerned with how Iâm doing. Recently, I emailed her with medicine concern between appointments and she called and emailed me right away to figure out a solution. When I had an emergency in the past and needed to see her immediately, she did everything she could to move things around and got me in right away because she knew how bad I needed to see her. Itâs nice to know that I can always count on her. I constantly tell my friends and family that I don't know what I would do without her, because she means that much to me. I referred a friend to her that loved her as much as I do. I would refer her to anyone and everyone looking for help. Sheâs the best, and if I were to ever move out of the Chicago area, I know it will be impossible to ever find a doctor as good as her. Sheâs set the standard too high.
