Dr. Gillian Elliott Pearis, MD

you are not a number to her you are a person- she collaborates WITH you on YOUR treatment options- she does not push anything on you- she is very competent- very well respected in the community- very compassionate and does not let stigma get in the way of helping her patients. Might have a waiting list- but its for a reason- shes been my P.Doc for years.

I have been seeing Dr. Pearis for a year and a half now, starting in my late teens. I waited for two months to get an appointment, but when I finally did, it was worth it. She is absolutely the only doctor I trust, and I say that without reservation. After she gave me her initial diagnostic impressions, she told me to look up that particular illness and tell her if it sounded like me. She also gave me the names of three medications she wanted to try, asked me to look them up, and choose which one I'd prefer. What? A doctor was asking me, the patient, what I thought? Let alone the fact that I was a minor at the time! Needless to say, it was a first for me, and certainly wasn't the last. She encouraged me to research my condition and the treatments so I could be as involved in my care as possible, which ignited a passion for psychiatry in me. I am now a psychology major and plan to pursue a career in psychological research. If I am successful, I owe it to her.It is hard to make… appointments with her, as she sometimes fails to get back to me. She also forgets minor details here and there (for instance, she ALWAYS forgets to write me a script for chewable pills rather than capsules). She did misdiagnose me at first, but about one out of four patients with my condition receives an accurate diagnosis right away, so I can't really blame her for that.Overall, I would highly recommend her to anyone with psychiatric problems, child, teenager, or adult.

Very difficult to reach secretary over the phone if notes or refills are needed.
