Dr. Gina Price Lundberg, MD

Dr. Lundberg is clearly well-credentialed, but my experience with her office in practice was so-so. I have since changed to another cardiologist and I am much happier with the new provider. Dr. Lundberg never explained my condition or my treatment options in a way that made sense to me. Also, follow-up is always with her physician assistant, "S". S was always confused about my medical records, so I was more confused than ever about my condition after seeing her. And she and Dr. Lundberg aggressively pushed me to take certain medications that give me intolerable side-effects or that I wasn't convinced I needed. They (and a nurse and administrator) seemed to think I was making it up. They did not take my input seriously, and seemed irritated that I wasn't just accepting what they told me to do. Now that I have seen another cardiologist, I can see it wasn't me being "noncompliant". The new cardiologist told me how to take the medication I'm already taking to maximize it's effect,… something I was not told before, and listened to me and took my concerns seriously. The new cardiologist also gave me credit for taking good care of myself in general (e.g. diet and exercise, taking meds regularly, etc.) and importantly, she put the whole picture of my lab results, family history, and lifestyle together in a way that makes sense.

Dr. Lundberg is happy with you as a patient as long as you have no opinions and let her make all the decisions for you while you act as if you're a robot. Collaboration is not accepted by her and she even poked her finger in my face when I was trying to explain that my mother had just recently been placed into hospice (she died this AM, by the way) and informed me that "we're not going to discuss my stress...so just don't go there" even as she admitted that emotional stress is one of the most common causes of SCAD. She completely dismissed my excellent outcomes with O2 concentrator (I have recently even made a trip to Denver without ANY chest pain, which I've had about every other week for 9 months), said she didn't understand why I couldn't just get back to normal like all the other SCAD patients and instead wanted me to go back on all the medicine I've already tried over the last 9 months and was taken off of by Dr. Hayes at the Mayo clinic in Rochester. She was completely rude… and condescending. She made it clear that I was lucky to see her because she is a "sub-sub specialist in cardiology" which basically means that she doesn't even know about or care about the whole heart, much less you as a patient and a WHOLE person. As if this wasn't enough insult, she even managed to shame me for having 3 stents placed in my LAD by the cath interventionist at NE Gainesville Medical Center when I was 90% occluded with my 2nd heart attack and Dr. Patel saved my life that night in the cath lab by working diligently to place 3 stents to bring perfusion back to my LAD without any lasting heart damage, which was a miracle. She said I must be depressed which is what is causing my chronic fatigue (no joke... my life has been blown up) but offered me no hope for any psychiatric assistance, stating that she didn't deal with any of that, only the heart., and that my primary physician was in charge of that (so let me get his straight... she's not even in charge of the total heart but she wants an internist to take care of EVERYTHING regarding my care, including the one tiny part that she is supposed to help with. She made fun of the fact that I was a pharmacist but didn't know that estradiol (which is your body's normal estrogen as a woman) was a major contributor to SCAD, of which there is absolutely no evidence. In fact, a CHANGE in hormones is more of a trigger, especially postpartum I have NEVER been more disappointed in our healthcare system!!! We have got to quit hiding behind the sub,sub specialties and see patients as WHOLE beings (mental, emotional, physical and spiritual). If she doesn't have time to do this, then I definitely do not want to drive 1&1/2 hour in the down-pouring rain to be completely insulted and shamed by her. Not only that, I paid her good money to provide me with such torture. No thanks!
