Dr. Gladys Maria Ayala, MD

To my knowledge, Gladys Ayala does not see many patients and mostly functions as a med school advisor. My review is as a former student at a med school where she advised. While I was a student I was harassed due to a disability (the Office of Civil Rights sided with me and penalized the school at which she advised). I was also groped by a doctor during my neurology clerkship. She did nothing to assist me with either of these horrendous violation of my rights. She did very little to assist me as a student in general, mostly functioning as a well-paid/non-practicing bureaucrat. She did not fulfill her duties as an advisor, and thus a protector of students. I see advocacy for students as one of the main functions of a students advisor. She utterly failed to meet her responsibilities to me as a disabled, female student. I’ll leave any reader of this to surmise how well she meets her patients needs. As a patient with a chronic illness, I will bluntly say, I would never bother to… use someone like Gladys Ayala as my physician. Given that she shows little to no initiative in protecting, serving and advising her students, I will make an educated guess and surmise that she similarly fails to meet her patients needs. (In my experience, people generally show a lack of empathy, and the precision informed by empathy, globally/across all aspects of their caretaking functions.)
