Dr. Grant Skidmore, MD

I have been a patient of his for many years and have never had a problem with anyone in his office. All very helpful and kind.

Had to see this dr. He comes in telling me he didn't know why he was seeing me. Then tells me I look good for my age and talks about everything except for what is really wrong with my back. He should be the receptionist instead of the dr. Avoid by all means

If you are a Huntington Ingalls Newport News Shipbuilding employee, DO NOT go to Skidmore or his practice because they will only do what the shipyard tells him to do!!! I've had seven lower back surgeries and I'm not any better and he will not back you up and cause you to get fired!! I've tried to get Social Security Disability five times and have been denied because his practice claims I can still work for four hours a day when I'm lucky if i can do that once a week. I worked at the shipyard for 28 years and lost my job because of Grant Skidmore!!!! He doesn't care about his comp patients, he only cares about the money he gets from them!!!!

I have been a patient of his since 2000. He has preformed 5 back fusions , and one neck fusions. He has given me the most up to date medical treatment possible, including inserting a spinal stimulator. Instead of a 6th surgery. He is great, my bones not so much.

Very thoughtful and caring man. Told me I would be without pain after surgery and he was correct. Had lower lumbar sx and the next day was walking without any pain. Pain free...is awesome.

2nd Opinion - found what the others missed

I have known Dr Skidmore for 20 plus years. He has treated my husband and myself. We really have a lot of faith in his diagnoses on us, and we like the fact he is not knife happy . He is willing to listen to you and make sure he is making the right decisions for your treatment. I have referred his name to a lot of my friends in the past. They too have been very pleased with his treatment. He has performed neck surgery and 2 back surgeries on me. I like him , and his staff. I will continue to see him for future problems.

I had lumbar fusion at L4/5 about 6 ago with spinal stenosis. The surgery was successful. Dr Skidmore does care about his patients. He will tell you truth to the best of his ability. Every patient is different and every outcome can be different. One thing I like, is that he does not push patients to have surgery. He lets them make their own decisions. Unfortunately, I now have stenosis again in another area of my spine. He will be my only choice in a surgeon/doctor. His PA was knowledge and just caring as Dr. Skidmore was to my concerns. Yes the wait is long, but worth it. Just goes to show how good a doctor he is.. A lot of people want to see him. Otherwise the office would be empty. Think about it............

He promise a 100% recovery,said that I was the only one hindering my recovery.Told my family , friends,and myself as soon as I come out recovery surgery I would be like a new man.He lied I am now worst than I was before.

I had lower back surgery over a year ago, and the type of surgery I had I was told I could go could go back to playing golf after 4 months, however, I am in the same pain as I was last year. I keep get all of these MRI performed and Dr. Skidmore telling me there is nothing wrong, however, the Department of Veteran Affair sent me to their outside MRI clinic and the report read something totally different. And the report difinitely said there was something still wrong with my back. I don't know why he won't take the time to look at my records instead of seeing his patients like a revolving door. I am very upset and mad that I am being treated this way. However, I will get justice in this matter one way or another.
