Dr. Gregg Minoru Yamada, MD

I brought my 87 year old mother to this jerk wanting to establish a relationship with a cardiologist as my mom's family has a history of heart disease. Yamada spent most of the visit boasting about himself, barely listening to my mom. I mentioned my moms distress over daily, major dizzy spells she was having & edema. He suggested pressure stockings and otherwise offered nothing other than reducing her dosage of verapamil. He neglected to do a stress test on mom and said we should just go to the ER if we had other concerns. Well 3 days after leaving for a big trip my mom DID end up in the ER with congestive heart failure and afib and Dr Yamada was AWOL. Didn't return my calls & quickly dropped my mom as his patient. The docs in MI took her off the verapamil which ended her dizzy spells & edema, and began treatment for AFIB. Yamada failed to diagnose any of this or monitor the effects of halving her verapamil dose. The man needs a podium with a room full of sycophants. Can't handle… actual patients. Stay away

Dr. Yamada is a brilliant, caring, and responsive doctor who ALSO has created a uniquely outstanding office environment with a superb team. Here’s an example of that great level of compassion and care: About a week after my last appointment with Dr. Yamada, I had a question which I relayed to him through his office staff. Later that same day, his wonderful nurse Katherine called me and explained, in thorough and clear detail, Dr. Yamada’s answer and what she had done to follow up on my behalf. Now that is a great doctor with a top rate staff!

Dr. Yamada is very knowledgeable and thorough. He truly listens to my questions and concerns. You know he genuinely cares. His staff and nurses are always friendly and professional. I have recommended him to my family members and friends who were in need of a cardiologist.

As an 82-year-old psychologist and mediator with heart issues, I know a great doctor when I see one, and Dr. Yamada is really great doctor. He truly cares about his patients; his encyclopedic knowledge is unparalleled; and he is an effective communicator. In every appointment with me or with my wife (also his patient), he reviews our history thoroughly, listens to our concerns, answers questions clearly, describes alternatives, and suggests guidance while taking our preferences into account. Because Dr. Yamada is so thoroughly experienced and clearly brilliant, it is easy to see why he is so highly regarded at – and has excellent relationships with – outstanding Mainland heart hospitals like Stanford and Cleveland Clinic. We are so fortunate to have him here! BTW, his book, “Prevention: The Most Important Treatment of Heart Disease,” (available on his website and at Amazon) is a must read for everyone (we all have hearts!) and a great gift for any loved one you hope to keep… around for a long time.

I feel very fortunate to be a patient of Dr Yamada. From my encounters with him, it is apparent that Dr Yamada is empathetic, passionate and cares deeply for all of his patients. With my visits, he has taken the time to to give a wholistic approach to treating my Cardiovascular disease. He does not treat his patients with a simple 5 min visit , prescription and pat on the back out of the door. Instead he takes as long as needed to discuss with you the nature of your disease, the disease process itself, prevention, long term care and maintenance.  One part that stood out to me the most was that he said " When we take our Board certification exam, the answer is always what is best for the patient. Unfortunately insurance companies always choose the cheapest options. If the insurance companies deny any of your treatment, I will fight for you to get them done" This statement is a testament not only to how he practices as a physician, but more importantly his character. Through his book… and blog, he has curated content which can be applicable to a broad spectrum of patients and conditions.  Dr Yamada understands the bigger picture and that he has a much further reach and can save a lot more lives by promoting Preventive medicine. The curated content on his blog is an extremely comprehensive resource that can be understood by any person with any level of education. By adhering to the lessons from his book and blog, you can prolong your life too!  Thank you Dr Yamada, please keep up the great work!

I have been going to Dr. Yamada for a few years now. I feel very confident with every visit I have had. I trust my life and heart with this man and his staff!

On my first visit with Doctor Gregg Yamada, I was greeted very warmly. As he explained the activities of the heart and their relationship to the other organs of my body, he did so with so much enthusiasm, confident in the knowledge he had accumulated over his many years in practice. His approach is holistic. It was impressive that as busy as he is, he made me feel as if I was, in that moment, the most important patient in the world. I wasn't sure what to expect on my first visit but was pleased. He seems to encourage preventive medicine which I find very different compared to some physicians I have visited. He is emotional and shows concern for the improvement of your health situation. It doesn't seem like he is just going through the motions. What I like is that he wants to prevent an occurrence rather than address it. He makes sure there is an understanding of the problem and what needs to be done.

I've been a patient for more than 10 years. The doctor's focus on detailed analysis and advanced preventative medicine has been a great and essential part of medical care for me and my spouse. The office staff has always been friendly, competent, responsive and extremely patient focused. The doctor is particularly adept at explaining symptoms, procedures and suggested actions to maintain or improve cardiac health. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing cardiac care or monitoring.
