Dr. Gregory Walter Cope, MD

My emergency room doctor today was Dr. Cope. Wish he was my family doctor. Very personable, knowledgeable, and comforting.

WE hit a tough problem which the other doctors were finding a way to ignore. Dr. Cope pulled up a chair and systematically (it seemed) went through every answer he had learned since his 1st day of med. school, looking for an answer. He wasn't able to find the solution, but found some excellent suggestions and stop gaps to tide me over. and places to seek better solutions. The other doctors failed , and slipped away , often with the suggestion that I must be doing something wrong , ( or be an exotic problem in which they had no interest). How could one not admire Dr. Cope who had the courage to say I'll give you all I've got, and the best possible choices for additional help. I do hope he teaches , as well as practices medicine.

dr cope is another doc that was great w/me. when i 1st saw him 10yrs ago, he was patient while i explained what was wrong. he was sympathetic & compassionate about my pain & how it was affecting me. we discussed a follow up plan 2 see a specialist, but when it fell thru, i had 2 return. when i did, he NEVER once doubted that i tried 2 follow up w/a specialist like other doctors will do. since he knew my med. hist., i was stabilized & sent home. i saw him recently, about 3mos ago in the ER & nothing changed. i was still the same great doc i knew yrs ago. he has an excellent bedside manner & a compassion that rare among ER physicians. if your ever sick & in pain and hes in the ER, request that he sees you. you wont be disappointed

I saw Dr Cope in the emergency room at Sibley Hospital. I didn't even have time to talk to the receptionist before a nurse took me to a room and gave me an EKG. Within minutes Dr. Cope saw me, ordered tests and diagnosed my condition that had misdiagnosed by my primary care physician just earlier that day. He cares. That is the most important aspect of any doctor/patient relationship - his professionalism is calming, and effective I think because he truly cares about the patient's pain and does everything he can quickly to alleviate the pain and calm the patient.

Dr. Gregory Cope of Sibley Memorial Hospital is one of the best doctors I have seen in my life. He speaks well for a hospital that is otherwise devoid of good doctors for the most part.
