Dr. Gregory Shifrin, MD

Had a distressing experience at this clinic recently with Dr Gregory Shifrin. I visited for an annual OBGYN check and was informed of cysts on my ovaries. The doctor recommended surgery, but unfortunately, the outcome was not what I expected. The surgeon performed a procedure, but it didn't address the cyst. To make matters worse, in the follow-up, a sonogram revealed that the same cyst was still present in my ovary. My attempts to communicate with the surgeon were met with unprofessional and rude behavior, as they disconnected calls and failed to provide an explanation for the procedure's outcome. Overall, I had a frustrating and disappointing experience with this practice. The doctor didn’t even want to discuss the situation after the surgery. I called my insurance and didn't authorize the payment. He is very underestimated. I strongly advised others to consider their well-being and safety before choosing this clinic for their medical needs.

I’ve a patient of Dr.Shifrin for more than 20 years.He did my surgery 4 years ago and he is great.He is very knowledgeable and always professional and prescribe the proper treatment.Its very convenient that you can have ultrasound and blood work done all the same visit and he discussed the treatment and results of your tests right away.His office staff is great and I highly recommend Dr.Shifrin to everyone who is looking for knowledgeable doctor who really cares about their patients.

I cannot express all the bad experience it has been...the staff is not pleasant, the facilities are old and the Doctor forces you to do not necessary test and spend the time, not being professional. They do not respect the public prizes they have at the entrance. A scam. It deserves an inspection.

Avoid to go because he makes you procedures which are not necessary just to earn money.

From manager Lina to the receptionist they ALL rude. Highly unprofessional. Poor interpersonal skills. They laughs at sick patients when they ask questions about their health. What a disgrace!! I read other negative feedback and they all seem to bring up the same rude and condescending behavior towards patients.

he doesn't even deserve the one star! Im 100% sure that his excellent reviews are from his coworkers/ family. Anyhow, ive been a patient of this idiot for nearly 7 years. after MANY unnecessary "polyp" removals and so on i was diagnosed with hyperplasia at the age of 24 which is precancerous cells in the uterus. After a 15 minute convo of him telling me to start these very hormone pills for 18 months.... He sat back and told me to go for a second opinion. i left that day with all my dr records and never returned. I went to an amazing oncologist on Madison Ave and east 61st NY..... She was mortified when i told her what he said (he also told me i wouldnt have kids unless i do another procedure) and that the hormone pills were not necessary for 18 months and you take it only for short amount of time- everything else is OK and i did not need the other procedure. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM HIM...... ESPECIALLY MY GENERATION WHO WANTS KIDS

This man should’ve had his lisence revoked years ago!!! He has misdiagnosed me and people I know who went to him just so he can try and get us to do unnecessary procedures! He’s a lying business man who uses expired material( knew a girl who worked for him as an ultrasound tech) not only is he rude but he makes sexual inappropriate jokes with all his patients! Stay away!!!! I personally ended up with an infection after a regular visit to his office... wouldn’t wish this experience upon my worst enemy!

Ladies PSA: I would give this doctor a negative 5 if I could. Anyone looking for a respectful ob/gyn please stay away from this guy. He is a arrogant, self righteous nasty man with a unwarranted god complex! (these are my kind words about him)....Lets just say he doesn't like to be questioned about his suggested procedures. According to him if your not a board certified ob/gyn and are not on his medical caliber then your not entitled to question him with concerns about procedures that he suggests to patients who know no better... My mother has been his patient for a pretty nice amount of time, up until today. He suggested that she come have a Hysteroscopy with him to remove a polyp on her uterus. After which he suggested that she have an additional procedure a short time after called an Endometrial Ablation. Now normal I don't get involved in my mothers medical visits however this procedure I felt necessary to do some research on. Now Endometrial Ablation is typically done for woman who have abnormal bleeding and other such symptoms and is should be avoided in woman whom are Post-Menopausal. Red flag #1, My mother is Post-Menopausal so naturally this raised concerns. I politely called his office and requested he call me back to discuss why he was suggesting that particular procedure to her. Which brings me to the following call, He calls me back 3 hours later fine no issues he is a doctor and busy I totally understand, but his attitude is evident almost immediately into the call, he goes on to insult my intelligence implying that i'm not on his medical caliber and have no right to question anything he suggests. He carries on to say that unless i'm a board certified ob/gyn he doesn't have to have any type of professional discussion regarding a procedure. Now at this point i'm already offended but proceed to again politely ask him to simply explain why he is suggesting this procedure considering it is noted clearly all over the internet easily accessible by anyone not a board certified doctor that this procedure is not recommended for post menopausal women. This time he start getting even nastier and practically shouting on the phone that i'm accusing him of wrong doing of some sort and that if I want to be a good daughter I should sit in the office with my mother rather than question him, and he proceeds to drop the call on me. What a joke of a doctor. Stay Away!

WARNING: DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR I almost died because of Dr. Shifrin! When I was 19 I got accidentally pregnant and wanted an abortion. After doing research, I decided to go with the medical abortion pill because it's a non invasive procedure. My parents took me to Dr. Shifrin because he is an old friend of my father's from medical school. Dr. Shifrin was extremely rude and inappropriate. He told my parents, in front of me, that they should tie me up to a bed and never let me go outside. He gave me the RU486 pill in an incorrect dosage and sent me home. I took the pill and experienced the abortion. Then what followed was a nightmare. I was walking around for 2 weeks with a fever, my skin turned yellow, I was extremely sick and kept bleeding and bleeding. I went to Dr. Shifrin for a follow up appointment. He told me I was fine and tried to give me ANOTHER dosage of the abortion pill in order to bring on more contractions, saying that the abortion wasn't completely expelled. After I left the office, my mother, thank God for her, told me that's it we are going to another doctor. We went the same day to Dr. Betsy Lantner on Kings Highway. Dr. Lantner admitted me right away and told me I was extremely lucky to have come to her because at that point I had sepsis!! That's why I had a fever and was turning yellow. She said that in a couple of days I would have died!! We immediately scheduled a cleanup and that same evening I went to the hospital where I had a regular abortion to clean up what was left in my uterus that was causing the sepsis. I was put on 3 different antibiotics through IV and was kept in the hospital for a couple of days. It was an incredibly stressful and scary experience. I tried to call lawyers in order to sue Dr Shifrin for medical malpractice, but was told that because I didn't die or wasn't permanently injured, I didn't have a strong enough case. Basically, Dr Shifrin got away with it. I did a bit of research and found that Dr Shifrin has many malpractice lawsuits running against him at the same time. I'll never have justice for what he did, but at least I can warn others. Karma will get him in the end.

I totally trust Dr. Shifrin. He is experienced, has great bedside manners, professional, understanding, compassionate. His main goal is the well being of his patients. Now, he added a procedure area in the basement. All state of the art. I wouldn't trade for the world.

I really don’t write reviews, but I had to for this experience! Dr Shifrin and the entire staff are very friendly and professional. I have been a patient of Dr. Shifrin for over 10 years and can't praise him enough for all he has done for me. He could always exactly diagnose any condition or problem and help it right away. His professionalism and knowledge are exceptional. The entire surgery and procedures went very smoothly and Doctor was always in reach and present whenever I needed his assistance. He is not only great doctor, he is a great human being and fine gentleman. I can highly recommend him!

Dr. Shifrin is an amazing doctor and a wonderful person. He really takes the time to get to know his patients and their concerns. My husband and I were trying to have a baby for over two years with no luck. I went to three different OB/GYN's who all recommended the same hormones that did not work. Then I decided to try Dr. Shifrin, who on my first appointment set out a game plan to get me pregnant. One year later, I am very happy to say that I have a beautiful baby girl. This would not be possible without Dr. Shifrin and his care. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about his work and makes his patients feel comfortable. I couldn't be happier with the service that he and his staff provided to us. We are forever grateful.

Dr. Shifrin is a knowledgeable and caring doctor. He is sincerely interested in his patient's well-being. He always made sure to put me at ease throughout my entire pregnancy. After each office visit, he made sure to sit down with my husband and I to listen to all of our many questions and took time to answer each one in detail (no matter how silly they may have been). He encouraged us to ask questions to make sure that we were comfortable throughout, at times spending as much as 20 â?? 30 minutes in his office just speaking to us. Dr. Shifrin is extremely passionate about his work and cares about his patients. When I went into labor, he stayed in the hospital the entire time checking on me every 15 â?? 30 minutes and even provided entertainment through his numerous stories to distract me. Even though he was already at the hospital for over 12 hours with another patient, he stayed through my entire labor making sure that the hospital staff was providing the care he would expect for his patients and controlling the situation if he felt that they weren't. Only after speaking to some other people, did I realize how rare it is for a doctor to do this. After many hours of labor, I started getting a fever and Dr. Shifrin recommend a C-section. When he said that a natural birth was no longer safe, I knew that he waited as long as possible and that it was a last resort because he knew how important it was for me to try a natural birth. He explained to me the reasons why it was no longer safe to continue with labor and I knew that my baby and I were in great hands. The C-section went well and as of now (a few weeks later) I can report that the scarring is minimal and the healing is progressing well. I would highly recommend Dr. Shifrin to anyone who is looking for an extremely knowledgeable and caring OBGYN that goes above and beyond for his patients!

Avoid this doctor for any cost. I cannot rate him with even one star. He does not deserve it . I really surprise he still has his licence

I made an appointment to see Dr. Shifrin today for my annual Pap smear. I confirmed ahead of time with my insurance company that there would be no copay for this visit since it was preventative care. The first words out of the receptionist's mouth were, "You know there's a forty dollar copay, right?" Well, no. No I did NOT know. I called up my insurance company to figure out what had changed in the twenty minutes since I had last phoned them. As it turned out, I still did NOT have a copay, however, Dr. Shifrin requires an invasive and medically unnecessary sonogram as part of his routine Pap smear exam. And being a completely invasive and medically unnecessary procedure, my insurance would not cover it. But forty dollars would. Needless to say, I left. Do NOT come here for any reason. all this guy cares about is lining his pockets with whatever money you're foolish enough to give him.
