If you want to have a surgery that you have hardly received any information about... go to Dr Greg Uitvlught. Dr. Greg explained my knee surgery as doing a little something to clean up the arthritis over hear. Never heard the term lateral release until the day of surgery. When I asked Dr. Greg what the recovery time would look like he relied with "a few weeks" when in all reality the recovery time is a few months. Dr. Greg is horrible at informing his patients with what he is actually doing. He seems to want to trick people into surgery. When you ask a question he is irritable and dismissive. This Doctors Ego gets in the way of being a compassionate and informative physician. Patient education does not exist. And do not even think for one minute you can ask to see someone else at east Lansing orthopedics that actually specialized in the joint you need to be seen for. If you want to have a horrible experience, little to no information, and want to be treated like your an idiot... Go to… East Lansing orthopedic and Dr. Greg Uitvlught.

My husband started out with Dr Greg 20 years ago with a shoulder issue. He fixed it with injections. Later on he needed knee surgery. Dr Greg was called again and we got right in and had the knee replaced - later the other knee. Many surgeries were done with Dr Greg being the surgeon and every one of them were done perfectly with no after issues. I myself have had him perform 3 surgeries - 2 scopes and one replacement. Each and every time I have called I have been greeted with a friendly person on the other end. When I get to the office I am greeted with a smile and a hello. He answered each and every one of my questions I threw at him. He is very compassionate and cares a lot about his patients well being. I have more work to be done and he will be the one called...

Dr. Uitvlugt has performed multiple surgeries for me and each and every time he was compassionate, professional and caring. I have read some reviews complaining about his demeanor and cannot imagine him acting in that manner. Perhaps people confuse true compassion with lower professionalism but this is not Dr. U. He is the best and he cares.

He didnt examine my injury or even ask how happened. He just asked if I wanted meds or time off work, which was already handled by my primary care physician. He gave a much different diagnosis than two other specialist who reviewed my xray so I doubt he even looked at it. To top it all off, he recorded the wrong leg on the paper work. I'd never let him touch me or anyone I know with a knife. I will not be going back and will be refuting the charges due to lack of anything that could even remotely be called heathcare.

Can't say enough about Dr. Uitvlugt and his bedside manner. Very compassionate. I never felt rushed. Very happy with overall visit.
