Dr. Gregory Valainis, MD

Worst Dr ever. Paid for and bought by Pfizer. I had been diagnosed with Lyme disease in by my primary care doctor 2003/2004. I had to pay close to $400 for the “good” bloodwork test bc it wasn’t covered by my insurance at the time. I caught the disease a few years prior and had been sick for years. Finally figured out what was wrong, demanded the test. It was off the charts positive. Had to have at least 1 (+) marker in several categories to be considered positive - my had 3+ in several categories. My work didn’t want me to take short term disability for the sickening antibiotics treatments, so they forced me to go to “their Dr” to confirm the Lyme disease. He looked in my eyes, nose, mouth, ears. Hit my knees for reflexes and scraped the bottom of my foot. Then had me squat down and stand back up. Determined I didn’t have it!!! I specifically asked him “what about the bloodwork that shows I do have it?” He replied “the bloodwork must be wrong”- you will need to return back to work… tomorrow” like I said. Bought and paid for by Pfizer. Now they have a “vaccine” coming out!!! Don’t ever ever trust this Dr or Pfizer. Money is more important than real healthcare (or lives) to them.

This guy needs to retire. Came to him when I first moved to SC from California. Nice office space, lots of people working the check in desks. But this doctor is not a nice person at all. I came to him having been in the HIV community for 20+ years, so I know a few things. I certainly know how to ask questions and how NOT to waste a doctors time by being prepared with questions. This one doesn't like educated informed patients because we might ask questions; it's almost if he thinks the patient is questioning his ability. Also, unbeknownst to me, he gave my medical file to the SC Health Dept without my permission. I only found this out when a total stranger pulled into my driveway, and knocked on the door to tell me she was from the Spartanburg Health Department doing survellance to be sure I was being treated by a a doctor. I was appalled and angry. My response was to ask her how she got my name and she said Dr. Valainis' office. So then I asked, "so if you got… my information from a doctors office, then you already know I am seeing a physician. I firmly believe this is a backwards, SC punitive action for people diagnosed with HIV/AIDS . Instead of encouraging the public, to come get tested and seek treatment, they practice this intimidation.

Only seems to care about seeing Internal Medicine patients until he can retire Don’t know why he advertises Infectious Disease as one of his specialties Maybe once he did that but not now

This is a warning to anyone attempting to make an appointment with Medical Group of the Carolinas in Spartanburg. If you miss an appointment the staff will rudely inform you that they will no longer see you as a patient with no exceptions. If Dr. Vilainis has so many patients that he can afford to lose some, then he doesn't need any new patients. Obviously they don't care about the people that are under their care in this office. My advice is to avoid them completely. Don't get into trouble with this one.

Excellent diagnostic skills. Very thorough. Spent a lot of time going over information and answering questions. Highly recommend this very intelligent physician

Dr. Valainis and HIS staff are good. However, he does seemed to be bothered by questions you ask and gives awkward gestures when you ask him something he disagrees with. He does not respond well to phone calls or emails. Getting an appointment is horrible. Expect a 2 to 3 month wait time. Waiting time during a visit is good unless the FRONT office errs. In that case no one seems to care that you had to wait a long time. Front office staff are not considerate and not friendly. He can certainly diagnose a problem but never discusses them with you unless you ask about the test. His bedside manner is not good, not friendly, arrogant and somewhat overbearing. I think he is too busy to give individual attention to any one patient. Never asks about my mental condition. He does not spend enough time explaining why you need certain procedures. It is mostly a JUST do it attitude and too bad if I forget to let you know. He never follows up. Even after requested.
