Dr. Gretchen Suzanne Montgomery, MD

She is an ER doc. She did nothing, relied on the physician assistant to decide what was appropriate to do prior to ever even seeing me (I presume from a "you fit list #2 so we will do that" type of protocol). She saw me, did not examine me,I asked about the borderline EKG (stated on it) she said the leads were placed wrong. She chose not to repeat it do do it right. I had all sorts of irregular heart beat issues going on at the time and other than in triage when an EKG was done no monitor was put on me. Hopefully I'll never be assigned to her again. Her visit notes included things not done nor discussed. She then significantly upcharged her bill.

I don't think I've ever been more upset by a doctor. I understand that the ER was busy, but I was there from 9pm-5:30am. I've never been treated so poorly. Dr. Montgomery spent about 1 minute total with me, never gave me a chance to ask questions, was dismissive when I explained what was going on and even though I told her specifically about something visable that I was concerned with, she did not look, at all, just ignored me and walked away. I came in with two concerns, one was not anywhere in my discharge papers and nothing was explained properly. St. Dominics is generally a great hospital so I'm very disappointed they would keep this doctor on staff.

I am also an R.N. and my experience was identical to that posted by the R.N. in 2012 below which shows Dr. Montgomery has not improved at all. She did not do an adequate exam, didn't get the history right, and showed ZERO concern about my well-being. She has no bedside manner and actually spent essentially no time at the bedside even though I had a life threatening medical emergency. I was admitted to the hospital and my cardiologist was not informed of my condition until the next morning. I will never set foot in her ER again if she is the one on duty. I will repeat what the two prior reviews said: I am appalled that this person is allowed to practice medicine.

I would actually love to copy and paste the review above mine. Appalled at how this physician is allowed to practice. Doesn't provide any explanation. Spends less then 15 sec. in the room. Rude and dismissive. Shouldn't be a licensed practitioner. Will call in advance to make sure she is not on staff of that ER. Nothing about this makes me want to come back to this hospital.

I have been an R.N. for over 30 yrs and am apalled that this person is allowed to practice medicine. She does virtually no patient assesment. Orders test. Does not touch patient or make eye contact. Interrupts patient. Takes no H&P. Offers no explanations. Tosses her hair out of her eyes and leaves the room. God help anyone who has to be "cared for" by her.
