Dr. Hal J. Applebaum, MD

Saved my Life 24 years ago. Reading the comments from the patient upset about filling out medical history forms regarding their health and delays is absurd. If you’re looking for a doctor to guess at what you need it’s not Dr. Applebaum. For 24 years I’ve been a patient of Dr. Applebaum there have been some delay with appointments and that’s ok with me. It shows the patient ahead of me is getting the attention and proper care that could save their life as I was spared, thanks to a skilled and conscientious doctor. When I was emitted to the ER with heart issues, I was fortunate that Dr. Applebaum was on call. After determining the best course of action for me Dr. Applebaum took the time to educate me and explain things at a level that I could understand. Routine healthcare for your heart can go on for the rest of your life, having a proven track record and being comfortable talking with Dr. Applebaum to this date he is still my Cardiologists of choice. Added bonus: Lisa, Dr.… Applebaum’s assistant complements the care process with compassion, empathy and encouragement providing excellent patient care. FYI: FACC after Dr. Applebaum MD, means Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC). Cardiologists elected as fellows have demonstrated their commitment to the highest standards of patient care, according to the ACC. “That’s an important sign that your cardiologist is up to date,” Thanks to my excellent medical care I've been able to share in the lives of my five grandchildren and soon great granddaughter.

Inconsiderate, careless, hurries

Dr. Applebaum has been my cardiologist for several years, and his expertise and bedside manner are superb. He is kind, patient, and explains my status in clear detail. His staff, especially Lisa, are so helpful and professional, yet above all, caring. I highly recommend Dr. Applebaum.

After reading many reviews I chose Dr Applebaum for his personality and he definitely makes you feel comfortable. He spends time with you and explains everything. I must say the wait time is a bit long but the staff is very friendly.

Dr, Applebaum had been my cardiologist since 2007 when he first recommended that I have a Heart Valve replacement. I have sworn by his expertise ever since. Yes, He talks and jokes around a lot, which helps put the patient at ease. But that doesn't mean he doesn't know his business. He's thorough and knowledgable. In 2014 due to a move in household locations I had to change cardiologists. My new Doctor was excellent, but treated me as a number. I have now switched back to Applebaum and intend to remain.

I have had 2 appointments with Applebaum. On the first visit, I had to complete a 5-page health history which I had previously done for my PCP in the same group but was told that this was a different department and needed to be completed. During the appointment, Applebaum either did not have this history or chose to ignore it, as he asked some of the same questions. I was one of at least 4 patients waiting to see Applebaum, some for well over an hour. I was ready to leave, when the receptionist said I would be next, after almost an hour wait. I think at least one of the patients ahead of me, left after the lengthy delay in being seen. On my second appointment for a stress test, I scheduled it first in the afternoon to avoid this long wait, but it didn't matter. I waited an hour without any explanation from the receptionist as to the delay and finally left for another appointment. It should be noted that I was the only patient in the waiting room when I arrived for my… appointment. I spoke with a friend of mine who also is being seen by Applebaum, and he told me that he always has to wait at least an hour before being seen on several appointments, as does a friend of his who also sees Applebaum. Thus, I don't think mine was an isolated incident as evidenced by the number of occurrences in delay. As a result, I am changing to another doctor and would not recommend Applebaum to anyone, unless you enjoy sitting in waiting rooms. On the plus side, I did have an echo gram and the technician who performed this procedure was prompt, pleasant and efficient in getting things done.

If you love your family member, find a different cardiologist!!!!!!
