Good Doc overall, however, the assistant, Keona, (location district spine in DC) is less than satisfactory. Initially, she failed to provide a new patient form in a timely manner, delivering it a mere 5O minutes prior to the appointment, while I was en route to the office. This oversight prevented me from completing the necessary paperwork in advance. Furthermore, during my visit, Keona provided multiple non-functional links, demonstrating a lack of attentiveness. Considering my physical discomfort and anxiety regarding my health, coupled with the stress of a hazardous journey on icey paths, her incompetence only exacerbated the situation. Additionally, she neglected to submit a prescribed medication to the right pharmacy.Upon contacting the office at 9 am today, I was informed that Keona was not present, and her colleague, Ashley, was working on the issue. When I requested a direct conversation with Keona, Ashley revealed that the prescription had been sent to an incorrect location… by Keena. Upon expressing my concerns to the manager, Melissa, who introduced herself as "the boss," she responded dismissively, laughing saying "whats up" and cutting me off. Her lack of empathy and disregard for my experience is deeply concerning, particularly in a field that deals with health and wellbeing. It is imperative that medical professionals, such as this doctor, are supported by experienced and compassionate staff and that can tarnish his reputation and reviews.

Unlike other patients’ reviews, I found him to be abrasive and not interested in listening.

Very successful disc surgery

Two visits prior to surgery were good with Dr Hassanzadeh explaining what would be required to repair my Scoliosis (due to leg length difference from injury to knee 32 yrs ago) and provide pain relief. At no time did I feel pressured into surgery even though other doctors never offered surgery as an option. Spinal Fusion surgery of L10-pelvis was 8hrs long and performed on Jan 22nd followed by hospitalization for four days. Dr Hassanzadeh even came to visit me over the weekend just to make sure I was doing okay. Post-op appt on Feb 11th went well with X-ray to confirm screws (20+) were okay and stitches removal. Unable to BLT (bend, lift, and twist) until bones heal, but basically no pain as I had experienced prior to surgery. Can now stand and walk without pain or loosing sensation in legs. So far I am pleased and would do again! Making a T-shirt that reads “UVA SCREWED MY BACK...LITERALLY” to proudly wear!

Everything he said came out to be true. Could not ask for a better outcome.

Due to a failed back surgery I had spent three years almost totally confined to bed with extreme lower back pain. My only relief came from opioids. An acquaintance of mine told me to contact UVA Spine Center. I put the call off for six months because I had been told that my condition was irreversible and I needed to learn to live with it. Out of despair I made the call. From the first call, to the first visit, to the hospital stay, and the post surgical visits it was the most positive medical experience I have ever had with any doctor, nurse,hospital, or technician. Dr. Hassanzadeh has a very professional and compassionate team working with him and I could not be more pleased with the outcome. I knew what to expect every step of the way and would recommend UVA Spine Center to anyone dealing with back issues.

Appreciated Dr. Hassanzadeh's approach of taking the intervention in steps and doing the least possible to get the desired outcome, pursuing surgery only after PT and medication wouldn't relieve my pain and then fully explaining the process beforehand to reduce my anxiety. I am thankful for his skills.

Dr. Hassanzadeh is very knowledgeable, friendly and definitely a surgeon you can trust.

Maybe he knows his stuff, but as any surgeon, he lacks bedside manner
