Dr. Harish K. Gagneja, MD

We would never recommend Dr Harish Gagneja. My husband and I plus our daughter were patients of this doctor for a few years before his negligence almost took my husband’s life. Previous cancer treatments caused his liver bile duct to collapse thus needing bile duct stents. Dr Gagneja’s office staff would notify us when it was time to exchange the stents. I had recently called to inquire if it was time to exchange it and was told “no “. Soon after that my husband almost lost his life due to Septic Shock because of infected bile duct stent. He wasn’t expected to make it and I had to call the children in to say goodbye. By God’s Grace he survived and we found a wonderful gastro doctor that takes great care of my husband. Dr. Gagneja called me at home after this happened to tell me it was our fault that my husband almost died of Septic Shock. Unbelieveable.

Dr Gagneja performed upper endoscopy on me and thoroughly and patiently explained the result to me at a follow up session. He is a goo doctor and recommend him to anyone who needs digestive system care.

I was a difficult case. Very large polyp. Doctors told me Dr.Gagneja had the expertise and experience to handle my case. They were right. My large polyp was removed and improved the quality of my life. Dr. Gagneja is easy to understand and is kind and respectful. I wish I had gone to him first.

So far so good . But I need some help soon.

Dr.Gagneja was very negative and rude, dismissive of my concerns, and extremely unprofessional when discussing my primary (referring) doctor. He actually used profanity and ignored the concerns and recommendations of my primary care physician. He was not helpful at all, and I will not be going back.

the Dr. is fairly new to me,however I have had some serious issues and I am confident and comfortable with my experiences with him.

Dr. Gagneja did my colonoscopy and diagnosed a life threatening situation early to make a difference in my life. He was very open and transparent in our discussion pre, during and post procedure. Very approachable and available on a short notice. Would recommend him to anyone with any GI needs.

I will not see anyone else as long as we live close enough to Austin - Dr. Gagneja's thoughtful bedside manner, authenticity, willingness to listen to his patients, and experience is far beyond that I've ever experienced. I was 26 and diagnosed with Barrett's Esophagus. My past physicians barely listened to my history, didn't take me seriously, and brushed off my questions all because I was so young and all that mattered was their stats. The fact I was so young is why I sought out second opinions (plus Barrett's?? I was not overweight, active, good diet, female, had no history of GERD or other chronic heartburn - all unusual to develop Barrett's), back in IL, where I was treated similarly to the first doctor - unheard and brushed off. In my appointment with Dr. Gagneja I felt heard, I felt respected, and I felt he wanted to get to the bottom of this just as much as I did. After my annual endoscopy appointment and a thorough examination of the results, he is confident given my history… (tore my esophagus horrifically in 2014 resulting in an overnight ER stay) that although I do have an irregularity, I have with almost certainty been misdiagnosed and put through many unnecessary labs/examinations throughout the past year. We will check up on it in 3 years to make sure, but I can't put into words what it means to have someone so experienced tell you with factual information that you have your life back. I am so glad I chose to be Dr. Gagneja's patient!

Dr. Gagneja is an excellent doctor who always knows the core of a problem and is very well educated in his field. His bed-side manner is of utmost consideration and I always leave his office in total confidence of his diagnosis. However, his staff, particularly his insurance staff are the most immature, uneducated and rude people I have ever had to work with. If they truly knew their job it wouldn't be such a hassle in merely scheduling appointments with him. Because of their inappropriate manner in treating patients, it bothers me that I will be seeking another doctor. And for that reason only, I will leave his office as there are other doctors in the field just as educated and have a staff who are truly caring for his patients.

I chose Dr Gagneja after doing extensive online research. He seemed to have a vast knowledge in the field of Gastroenterology and a desire for continuing education. I also read many patient reviews and took into account his hospital affiliations. My son and I have both been patients of Dr Gagneja, for a rare intestinal polyp syndrome that most doctors have never heard of. It was a huge plus that he had first hand knowledge/experience with our issues. Whenever I mention that I had seen him as my Gastroenterologist to other Medical Professionals, they always smile and have nothing but good things to say about him. Unfortunately, my current insurance (Sendero IdealCare) does not list Dr Gagneja as a provider, so alas I am forced to find another. It won't be easy to fill his shoes... I highly recommend Dr Harish Gagneja to anyone searching for a Top Notch Gastroenterologist!
