Awesome orthopedist, knowledgeable, friendly and up to date.

My 8 year old son broke his arm on the way home from school one day and I called Dr. Rodger's office from the emergency room while they were setting the bones (yes, plural, he broke his radius and his ulna clean through). The receptionist was sympathetic and able to schedule us for the very next day, much to my great surprise! When we arrived the next day, the wait was on the long side (when you are an 8 year old with a broken arm, everything feels like it takes forever!), but I soon discovered that the reason they may sometimes run behind is because they are giving every patient personal and professional care. The nurses and techs joked with my son and put him at ease, helped him pick out a cool color for his cast and joked about the gross stuff they find inside of casts as a warning of what not to do. Dr. Rodgers came in and looked at the x-ray, he explained to me what he saw in a way that I understood easily without sounding condescending (like some specialists tend to do). He showed me where the bone had drifted slightly from where it was cast and told me that in the past they would do surgery and put in pins to correct it, but there are new studies that show in children under 11-13, it isn't necessary and you can achieve the same results without pins and surgery, that the bone would grow around the break and drift, surrounding it with new bone as he grew. He recommended leaving it. Considering how well I had been treated by the staff and Dr. Rodgers, it was easy to trust his opinion, I also respected that he left the choice to me (or at least I felt like he did!). We left the drift and put on the cast. Three weeks later, we went back for a short cast and once again I was blown away by the genuine care the staff took for my son. When the time came to take off the cast, they demonstrated that it was no longer a scary saw, but a machine that vibrates by putting their bare hand on it and inviting my son to do the same if he chose. Dr. Rodgers showed me on the new x-ray how the bone had already begun to straighten out in 3 weeks from the drift and cleared my baseball loving son to play IF he chose to. He wanted to and we got some fun pictures of him batting with a short cast on. At our final appointment to take the cast of, there was celebration and more love. They were excited for him and hoped that this was the end of the road. The final x-ray showed "remarkably healed bones" (something said for this mother's benefit, I'm sure) and even more straightening of the "bone of contention." He was pleased with the progress and set my son free of the cast. I asked for recommended strength training therapies and he detailed a contraption that I could create at home that sounded wonderfully like something my children would have fun hitting each other with. When I asked for something that COULDN'T be used as a weapon, he said, with a twinkle in his eye, "With enough imagination, a boy can turn anything into a weapon!" I know this to be so very true.

He is a good surgeon. I would recommend him. I. Had shoulder surgery almost 2 weeks ago and I am doing fine. The only complaint I have is my surgery was schedule at 10am and I didn't go until after 2 pm. That was not fun. Then I had to spend the night my other complaint is I have not seen him sense before my surgery. I saw the dr. On call and my dr.'s assistant.

3 yr old with broken arm

Bedside manner was the most hateful and scary I've seen! Does not need to be working with adults let alone a 3 year old! This man also billed my insurance for procedures he never performed as I see on other reviews he has done before! Do not go to this ill tempered jerk!

Never again, Dr. Rodgers.

There's no way to see this doctor after my surgery. His assistant doesn't have answers for me, besides of being condescending and disrespectful. Unfortunately, it's too late for me.
