Dr. Helene Marie Mcdonald, MD

I only have negative comments to contribute regarding Dr. McDonald - for our initial zoom appointment, she failed to show up while I sat in front of the computer for at least 15 minutes until I decided to give up. I had to call the main office to find out what had happened. They never gave me an explanation and then I received a phone call from Dr. McDonald so we ended up having a phone conversation instead. She did not seem to care about my medical background and history at all so I don't know how she decided to prescribe the medication she did. To say that Dr. McDonald did not care one bit about me as her patient is an understatement. Months later we had a zoom session which she was ALSO late for. Again, she made me feel as though I was interrupting her day and wanted to end the session as soon as she could. I would never in good conscience recommend her to anyone.

Hard to get an appointment with like most psychiatrists, but overall a great experience. I was a bit nervous at first, but she made me feel comfortable and was very understanding. Her staff is very kind and helpful, making it an overall positive experience.

Dr. McDonald listened carefully to my life story and was caring and personable. I really liked her and I don't know how she could be any better. I think she accurately diagnosed me and was even willing to discuss technical details and other difficult questions about the medication. Would definitely recommend.

this lady is horrible. I went to her after UCLA told me she had plenty of openings, which should have been the first sign. Upon meeting her, she seems frazzled in her appearance but overall friendly. She was also fast to judge and refused to accept my doctors note including my life long medical condition (which she was supposed to treat me for). She then decided to go into my files and make "notes" saying I dont have the medical condition that requires meds" She said she didnt think I showed signs of OCD, I have been treated for this since I was 5. I can no longer attend UCLA due to this stupid woman and her cruel remarks. It makes me ill to think someone can sit and make an assessment in 20 minutes but not look at my entire history. What is more odd is the fact she refused to speak with the doctors who have treated me for 20 years. Please do not see this lady. She is a complete mess and has caused me a lot of issues.

There are not enough words to express the horrible experience I had after seeing this woman. First, she denied me medication I needed and had been taking since I was a very young child. I had made an appointment to see this lady for the sole reason of medicine management. I came there prepared, with doctors notes and my medical history for the past 30 years. She said she didn't need to see my information. She not only refused me, she called me a liar and told all of ucla that I never had the condition in which I have been on medicine for. Her lies had caused all of ucla to deny me. This woman started such an issue that I have to move out of state because of the threats she made to me. I cant explain the strong dislike for Dr Helene mcdonald. She has abused the rights of a doctor and she needs to be reported to the state of California. As well as her team. Horrible people.

Just moved to the beach area and was looking for a specialist. Dr. McDonald was judgmental and made several offense comments about my personality. After an initial visit of 75 minutes, I felt the office feeling worse than when I arrived. Hopefully she won't be in practice that much longer.
