Dr. Plauch joined the medical staff in 1998, moving his orthopedic practice to Highlands from Baton Rouge, LA. A graduate of Louisiana State University, he earned his medical degree from the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1963 and performed his internship in general medicine at the Confederate Memorial Medical Center in Shreveport, LA. He then completed a combined four-year residency in surgery and orthopedic surgery at Confederate Memorial Medical Center before going into private practice in the Baton Rouge area. In 1971, he and an associate founded Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center which grew to become the largest private orthopedic practice in Baton Rouge. He has also been a clinical instructor at LSU's Department of Orthopedics at Earl K. Long Memorial Hospital in Baton Rouge. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a diplomate (Fellow) of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.He is also a member of numerous professional organizations.
