Dr. Herman Tom Barb, MD

He is able to figure things out and is very knowledgeable on which medications for what need.

Dr Barb takes time to really listen to his patients issues. He is kind, even keeled and understands whichmedication is suitable to treat the inidvidual. He is a wonderful, caring man.

Sure the wait is long sometimes but I have been seeing him for years. Sometimes waiting as long as 3 hours. But he has since gotten new computers and training for the office staff. They are courteous and kind. Still have a wait but not like it used to be. Dr. Barb is worth the wait. He is kind, understanding and knows his stuff! I feel so comfortable with him and feel I can talk to him about anything. He takes my opinion into consideration regarding meds. I don't know what I would have done without him. He really saved me. I came from a really verbally abusive psychiatrist and was so relieved to find Dr. Barb. It is a bit of a ride for me but so worth the trip! He is a good man and I feel he would do whatever he could to help me. I trust him 100%.

If Dr Barb was not such a good doctor, I would never wait the 60-120 minutes that I have in the waiting room. This wait is filled with dirty, drugged up people who reek of smoke. It is quite an experience.The front office staff DOES NOT answer their phone. They let it go to voice mail or you just get a busy signal for hours and hours. If you leave a message, do not expect a return call--it does not happen. You have to call over until THEY finally pick up their phone.Dr. Barb on the other hand, is kind, caring and patient (although time spent depends on the other patients waiting--often he is very behind and rushes you)...I have been seen for as little as 15 mins up to 1/2 hr.He listens, is attentive and seems to really care. You will not leave without a prescription or samples. Sometimes, I think, he over prescribes. I was on 4 different meds at one time. If you don't mind the wait, Dr Barb IS a good psychiatrist.

Dr. Barb is a pleasant, courteous guy but he treated me for a long time for something I never had. The office staff is horrible and the wait time is unbelievably long. Don't ever expect your phone calls to get returned, and I think they keep the phone off the hook when they get tired of hearing it ring. I've gone hours getting a constant busy siganl. I found another doc who gave me a different diagnosis, different meds, and now I'm doing great! I guess I have to say thank you to the bad office staff for pushing me to find someone else.
