Based on my first meeting with Dr. Cardenes in November 2025, I am confident that I have connected with a very knowledgeable and experienced radiation oncologist. Our first meeting lasted about an hour, during which time Dr. Cardenes accurately summarized my previous testing and current condition and outlined a work plan for treatment going forward. Importantly she demonstrated a clear understanding of my concerns and preferences as she responded to my questions. By the end of our meeting I felt reassured that I was in excellent hands to deal with my health issue, and I look forward to working with Dr. Cardenes and her team. Follow-up Review ... Five Months Later (April 2026) My greatest expectations of working with Dr. Cardenes after our first consult meeting in November 2025 have been exceeded as I underwent a series of 27 daily radiation treatment sessions at Weill Cornell under her supervision. Our frequent visitations during my treatment period confirmed her commitment to my… success. Dr. Cardenes is an excellent listener, and provided me with clear and simple explanations to my questions, including occasional hand drawings to illustrate her answers. I consider her to have an excellent "chair side manner," exhibiting patience and understanding of my never-ending questions. Importanly, Dr. Cardenes has assembled an excellent and dedicated professional staff including a Nurse Practitioner, Senior Administrative Assistant plus a team of radiation technicians to support my radiation session scheduling and treatments. Overall -- and dare I say -- I surprisingly found the overall radiation therapy treatment experience very educational and enjoyable. My treatment regimen also involved simultaneous chemotherapy, which was overseen by chemotherapy oncologist Dr. Manish Shah, also of Weill Cornell Medicine. Both of my oncology doctors worked extremely well together practicing their respective disciplines -- oncology radiation and oncology chemotherapy, and I would highly recommend this team of professionals at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
