Dr. H. Michael Guo

Just what it sounds like. During what I was assured would be a very low risk 'minor procedure', I lost muscle control and sensation on the entire left side of my back, from just below my shoulder to below my belt-line. I initially contacted Dr. Guo for pain while sitting, which he diagnosed as facet joint pain. I've since found out that this was almost certainly a mis-diagnosis, and my pain is much more likely due discogenic. Not only did Dr. Guo make a misdiagnosis, but performed what was supposed to be a safe proceeder, with such abandon that it caused massive nerve damage and muscle wasting. Before the procedure I worked full-time, and was able to play soccer, swim, and stand for an entire day. My only problem was pain while sitting. After the procedure I was bed-ridden for over 8 months, and am still in intensive rehab and taking heavy-duty narcotics. Before the procedure the strongest medicine I took for the back pain was Celebrex and alieve. I'm still recovering, but am no… where near as healthy as I was BEFORE the procedure. Not only did Dr. Guo mis-diagnos my condition, and then perform a procedure that paralyzed half of my back, he then failed to acknowledge that anything had gone wrong, falsified medical records, and told me that the increased pain was 'in my head'. If all this isn't bad enough, it later came out that Dr. Guo didn't even know the intended result of the procedure he performed. I found out later from similar specialists that Dr. Guo was oblivious to several of the normal side-effects of the procedure that he performed. Because Dr. Guo was unaware of these (very important) side affects, he was unable to correctly answer questions I asked leading up to the procedure. Had Dr. Guo known what he was doing, he would have been able to correctly answer my questions. If I had been given the true information about the procedure Dr. Guo performed, I never would have had it done in the first place. A doctor who is not fully informed about the affects of the procedures he performs, and carries them through nonetheless is a danger to patients. If the same doctor hides his ignorance by giving inaccurate information to patients, then he is not just dangerous, but is impossible to avoid. Dr. Guo is just such a doctor.
